As the roster for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy fills up, the latest addition could be someone familiar with space epics. The Hollywood Reporter says that Avatar and Star Trek star Zoe Saldana is in talks to join the film as the female lead, the green-skinned assassin Gamora.
In the comics, Gamora is the last of her species after they’ve been annihilated by the alien race the Badoon. She’s also the adopted daughter of Thanos (who appeared after the credits in last summer’s The Avengers).
The only cast members confirmed for the film so far are “Parks and Recreation” actor Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer. Guardians of the Galaxy‘s roster is also said to include Groot and Rocket Raccoon. The film is currently in pre-production in the UK, with director James Gunn at the helm, and is targeting an August 1, 2014 release.
