Another new armor design from the upcoming Iron Man 3 is now online and it’s one that might be a bit familiar. The Sub-Orbital “Gemini” suit, Mark XXXIX, made its debut in toy form earlier this year with (immediately recalled) images of a Funko Pop! Vinyl figure that dubbed it a “Deep Space Suit.” Naturally, theories followed that the suit might have a connection to the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.
“Well, I would say that Ive owned a number of ‘Jungle Attack’ Batmans in my time,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said of the toy in an interview earlier this year, “and I dont remember any jungle attack Batman sequences, so…”
Now that the suit is confirmed to both be in the film and is designed to function outside Earth, expect some new theories on what it may mean for Phase Two of the cinematic Marvel Universe.
Hitting 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters, the Shane Black-directed action adventure stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley and Wang Xuequi.
