A Veronica Mars Feature Film is Officially Kickstarted!

Anticipated by fans since the series went off the air in 2007, a Veronica Mars feature film is officially on the way! This morning’s ambitious Kickstarter attempt to raise the $2 million necessary to greenlight such a project was a record-breaking success and the targeted budget was reached in less than 12 hours. You can check out what the total is up to now here.

The series, from creator Rob Thomas, starred Kristen Bell as the titular Mars, a young student who, growing up with a detective for a father, moonlit as a private investigator. The series ran for three seasons, transitioning Mars from high school to college.

As per the rules of the Kickstarter, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution has agreed to put the movie into production and pick up the tab for marketing, promotion, and distribution. The film will be released in the first quarter of 2014 for a limited-time theatrical run, before moving to VOD, iTunes, and other digital platforms.

Check back soon for updates from the production of the feature film as they become available.
