Summit Entertainment has moved ahead the releases of two of its summer films. Now You See Me, originally scheduled for release on June 7, will now arrive one week earlier on May 31. RED 2, meanwhile, was scheduled for August 2 and will now hit theaters July 19.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, Now You See Me stars Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo and Michael Caine.
The movie pits a crack FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against a super-team of the world’s greatest illusionists, who pull off a series of daring bank heists during their performances, showering the profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law.
The new date puts Now You See Me up against The Purge and The East.
RED 2, meanwhile, arrives from director Dean Parisot and stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee, Brian Cox and Neal McDonough.
In the film, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. To succeed, they’ll need to survive an army of relentless assassins, ruthless terrorists and power-crazed government officials, all eager to get their hands on the next-generation weapon. The mission takes Frank and his motley crew to Paris, London and Moscow. Outgunned and outmanned, they have only their cunning wits, their old-school skills, and each other to rely on as they try to save the world-and stay alive in the process.
RED 2‘s new date puts the film up against Turbo, The Conjuring and fellow comic book adaptation R.I.P.D..
