Justin Lin Plans Patrick Lee Adaptation

Warner Bros. has secured the rights to an upcoming novel series by Patrick Lee. Deadline reports that the studio has attached Fast & Furious 6 helmer Justin Lin to direct.

The first book in the series, planned for release in 2014, is still untitled and follows the adventures of ex special operative Sam Dryden as he becomes wrapped up in a mission to protect a mysterious young girl.

Lin, who has directed every Fast & Furious film since The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift, has had his name attached to a number of upcoming projects, including the sci-fi tales Hibernation and Subdivision, and the true story L.A. Riots, the comedy Chinglish and the manga adaptation Lone Wolf and Cub. He’s also attached to executive produce Summit Entertainment’s reboot of Highlander.

Lin plans to also produce the Lee adaptation alongside Michael De Luca.
