The upcoming high-stakes thriller Inheritance has landed Kate Mara (House of Cards) and Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) in starring roles, per The Hollywood Reporter. Vaughn Stein, who just directed Pegg alongside Margot Robbie in his debut Terminal, will helm the project.
The film examines a wealthy family whose patriarch dies, which causes a lot of family drama. Once his wife and daughter receive a shocking inheritance in his last will and testament, it could end up destroying their lives.
Richard B. Lewis (The Space Between Us) will be producing through his Southpaw Entertainment banner, joining David Wulf (The Night Clerk) of WulfPak Productions and Dan Reardon and Santosh Govindaraju (The Night Clerk) of Convergent Media.
Mara, perhaps still best known as Zoe Barnes from the Netflix series House of Cards, has been developing a TV series based Hannah Fidell’s drama film A Teacher. Originally developed for HBO, the series moved to FX. Mara will also be starring in the lead role. Pegg, meanwhile, just starred in the UK comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez. It opened overseas but doesn’t have a theatrical release stateside yet. He’s also in talks to star in the upcoming Star Trek sequel.
