On Day 2 of Toy Fair 2013, ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype was given a tour of the DC Direct Showroom where they were showing off their new statues basd on Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and we just want to say that DC Collectibles are awesome for letting us take pictures of them, unlike some of the other vendors who have licenses to produce Man of Steel toys.
As you can see below, the highly-detailed statues based on Superman, General Zod, Jor-El and Faora, but they also have a full array of new action figures and statues based on other DC Comics characters. You can see the full gallery by clicking here.
While they plan on keeping their Superman, Green Lantern and Justice League figures available, they continue to add new figures to their “New 52” line, with the Simon Baz Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Black Adam and others coming in the next few months. In November, they’ll offer a 7-pack of Heroes vs. Villains featuring Captain Cold, The Joker and Ocean Master in a pack with Batman, The Flash and Aquaman and buying that pack will be the only way to get the Catwoman figure. Before then, they’ll have two-packs with the Flash and Wonder Woman paired with Vibe and Katana from the upcoming Justice League of America comic, and that will be the only way to get the figures for Vibe and Katana who will have their own comic book series in the coming months.
The really impressive piece had to be the larger-sized action figure based on the New 52 Swamp Thing in his guardian mode (left), which we won’t be seeing until December. They also showed off the new figure of Pandora (right), the character from Flashpoint who may be responsible for the “New 52” (along with Dan Didio), and she will come in a special gold skull case, which may or may not be something we see in the comics sometime before the release of that figure in November.
Their “Arkham Asylum” and “Arkham City” lines continue to add figures with great molds of Hush, Ra’s al Ghul, Azrael, Catwoman, The Riddler and an over-sized Solomon Grundy with removable chestplate and organs.
The Batman Black and White series has been one of DC Direct’s longest running series of statues, and they’re continuing those with models based on the versions of the Dark Knight by Tony Millionaire, Michael Allred, Sean Galloway and more. They’re also branching out into Superman statues based on different artists’ take on him from the comics, including Frank Miller, Jim Lee, Lee Bermejo, Rags Morales and Frank Quitely.
This year, DC Collectibles will introduce a new line of statues called “Bombshells” which will be ’40s versions of popular DC Comics female characters, starting with Supergirl and Wonder Woman. They’ll also continue their Cover Girls statues, adding a new statue based on Batman, Neil Gaiman’s Death and Platinum from the Metal Men.
DC Collectibles are also finally branching into the 3.75″ world with highly-articulated figures based on the upcoming “Injustice: Gods Among Us” fighting video game with figures based on Flash, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Cyborg, Wonder Woman and Solomon Grundy all in their incarnations from that anticipated video game out in April.
We also admired their new series of action figures based on the Aardman Batman cartoon shorts from the Cartoon Network.
You can see larger versions of all the figures and statues above including DC Collectibles’ statues based on Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel in the DC COLLECTIBLES GALLERY.
