Lauren Graham, Joel McHale and Robin Williams have signed on for a holiday comedy called A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. Tristram Shapeero, who has directed television shows like “Community,” “Veep” and “Parks and Recreation,” is attached to make his feature-film directing debut from a script by Phil Johnston (Wreck-It Ralph).
The film will see McHale and Graham as a married couple, Boyd and Luann Mitchler, who are forced to spend the holidays with Boyd’s father (Williams) and his crazy extended family. When Boyd realizes that he forgot to bring gifts for his son he, his father and his younger brother have to jump in a car and make the eight-hour round trip drive before Christmas morning.
Graham, best known for her seven-year leading role on “Gilmore Girls,” was previously the star of the Christmas-themed Bad Santa. McHale, meanwhile, is a regular on NBC’s “Community,” which premiered its fourth season last night and Williams, who was last on the big screen in 2009’s Old Dogs and as a voice in Happy Feet Two, can next be seen in the ensemble April 26 release The Big Wedding.
Production on A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle is expected to begin late next month in Atlanta.
