Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone to Direct Tammy

Melissa McCarthy and husband/creative partner Ben Falcone are both set to direct the upcoming New Line Cinema comedy Tammy, Variety reports.

First announced back in 2011, Tammy is designed as a road trip comedy, and will star McCarthy as a fast food restaurant employee who, after finding that her husband is cheating on her, quits her job and decides to drive to Mount Rushmore to rediscover herself. As things turn out, though, her decidedly non-PC grandmother insists on making the trip as well.

The update comes on the heels of yesterday’s news that listed three additional projects that McCarthy and Falcone are producing through their On the Day banner. Tammy will mark their directorial debut.
