September 20 kicks off with a number of recent big screen titles and we’ve got behind-the-scenes looks at two of them. In the players at the bottom of this page, explore the true history behind Gary Ross’ Free State of Jones and take a look at what went into bringing Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising ‘s tailgate chase sequence to life.
Also arriving on the heels of its theatrical debut is Paramount Pictures ‘ franchise sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows .
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Walt Disney Animation’s Beauty and the Beast gets an elaborate special edition, while Jim Henson’s Labyrinth gets its own 30th anniversary set, boasting a new 4K transfer. There’s even an exclusive Steelbook version available only at Best Buy .
The Criterion Collection this week inducts Joel and Ethan Coen’s debut feature Blood Simple and gets cinephiles ready for Halloween with Jacques Tourneur’s 1942 horror classic Cat People .
Other horror titles arriving September 20 include Arrow Films ‘ new special edition of Dead-End Drive-In , Kino Lorber ‘s Beware, the Blob! and the cult 1990 underwater mutant creature action adventure The Rift .
Shout! Factory this week brings to blu-ray the recent thriller Sacrifice as well as the 1961 romantic drama Fanny , directed by Joshua Logan.
Olive Films launches its new “Olive Signature” collection with updated takes on two of their most popular titles: Fred Zinneman’s iconic western High Noon and Nicholas Ray’s own take on the genre, 1954’s Johnny Guitar .
Although there are no small screen television titles hitting Blu-ray this week, quite a few shows arrive on DVD September 20. Look for the third season of The CW ‘s The Originals , the fifth season of CBS ‘ 2 Broke Girls and the seventh season of both ABC ‘s Modern Family and CBS’ The Good Wife . There’s an episode collection disc for Disney ‘s The Lion Guard: Unleash the Power and two catalogue TV titles with the eighth season of the ’90s sitcom Family Matters and a complete series set for the recently-concluded cop drama Rookie Blue .
Hitting Digital HD September 20 is Warner Bros. Pictures ‘ The Legend of Tarzan , Universal Pictures ‘ The Purge: Election Year , and the indie comedy Miss Stevens , starring Lily Rabe .
