September 6 brings home Money Monster, Now You See Me 2, The Flash, Star Trek, Peanuts and more!
Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top titles arriving this week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue films and television collections hitting shelves and/or VOD beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
The week kicks off with the home entertainment debut of Money Monster, Jodie Foster’s second directorial outing that puts George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell front and center in a fast-paced thriller. Meanwhile, Jon M. Chu continues the big screen story of the magician team known as the Four Horsemen with the ensemble adventure Now You See Me 2.
Elsewhere, Bryan Cranston and Anthony Mackie headline HBO‘s historical drama All the Way and Luca Guadagnino’s drama A Bigger Splash (starring Tilda Swinton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ralph Fiennes and Dakota Johnson) also arrives on Blu-ray. Other recent big screen fare coming home September 6 includes Drake Doremus’ sci-fi thriller Equals (starring Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart), Lorene Scafaria’s The Meddler (starring Rose Byrne and Susan Sarandon), Whit Stillman’s Love and Friendship (starring Kate Beckinsale), the Aaron Kaufman thriller Urge (starring Pierce Brosnan), Greg McLean’s supernatural thriller The Darkness (starring Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell), David Farr’s psychological thriller The Ones Below (starring Clémence Poésy) and Matteo Garrone’s fantasy anthology Tale of Tales (starring Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel, Toby Jones and John C. Reilly).
There’s a pair of direct to home entertainment sequels arriving September 6. Look for Scott Adkins in Hard Target 2 and for Cassie Ventura in Honey 3: Dare to Dance. You can check out an exclusive clip from the former in the player below!
September 6 also brings home, on DVD only, both the action comedy Compadres and the biographical drama Genius.
We’re finally getting a Blu-ray of Brad Bird’s The Iron Giant as the 1999 animated classic arrives in a special edition release.
Although both titles are now arriving just after the legendary actor’s passing, Kino Lorber has a double feature of Gene Wilder comedies with both 1975’s The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother and 1986’s Haunted Honeymoon.
Peanuts fans should be pleased with the arrival of two classic animated features. Both 1969’s A Boy Named Charlie Brown and 1972’s Snoopy Come Home come to Blu-ray for the first time September 6.
The Criterion Collection this week has a Blu-ray upgrade for Carol Reed’s 1940 thriller Night Train to Munich.
Shout! Factory continues their Shout Select line this week with a Blu-ray special edition of the 1989 Patrick Swayze actioner Road House. Their Scream Factory label expands, meanwhile, with the addition of Jason Stutter’s recent horror thriller The Dead Room.
There are also quite a few small screen titles coming home September 6, including the massive Star Trek 50th Anniversary TV and Movie Collection. The iconic series celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this week and the new set combines every episode of the original series with the first six movies and, for the first time, an HD release of Star Trek: The Animated Series.
Other TV titles this week include the second season of The CW‘s The Flash, the eleventh season of the network’s Supernatural, the 19th season of Comedy Central‘s South Park and the full debut season of FX‘s American Crime Story, The People vs OJ Simpson.
Hitting DVD only September 6 is the second season of CSI: Cyber and the first and only season of CBS‘ Limitless. There’s also two new complete series re-releases with massive sets for both Friday the 13: The Series and Tales From the Darkside. There’s also the recent telefilm R.L. Stine’s Mostly Ghostly: One Night in Doom House.
Digital releases arriving the week of September 6 include the 25th anniversary re-release of Disney‘s beloved animated musical Beauty and the Beast and the recent big screen sequels Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and X-Men: Apocalypse.
You can check out cover art for all the September 6 releases in the gallery viewer below alongside a listing of each release’s special features (where applicable).
