July 19 brings home Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Return of the Living Dead, The Magicians and more!
Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top titles arriving this week on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue films and television collections hitting shelves and/or VOD beginning Tuesday, July 19, 2016.
It’s a huge week for releases as July 19 brings home the world’s finest clash that is Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, arriving in an “Ultimate Edition” that includes an extended cut of the DC Comics film. There’s meanwhile another epic showdown of bigger-than-life personalities as Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey (that’s Zod and Luthor, if you’re still in DC mode) headline the true story of Elvis & Nixon.
Other recent theatrical releases coming to Blu-ray and DVD July 19 include Jean-Marc Vallee’s Demolition, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and Don Cheadle’s directorial debut, the stylish Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead. There’s also a “perfect” pair of titles with Fernando León de Aranoa’s darkly comic war tale A Perfect Day and Bille Woodruff’s romantic comedy The Perfect Match.
Also arriving on Blu-ray July 19 is OUTATIME, a documentary that explores the restoration of the Back to the Future DeLorean.
Debuting to DVD only on July 19 is both the animated family adventure Underdogs and the short film anthology Rio, I Love You.
Shout! Factory’s Scream Factory label delivers this week the definitive Blu-ray of Dan O’Bannon’s zombie comedy masterpiece Return of the Living Dead. The film arrives in a lavish two-disc set while Eric Red’s 1996 werewolf thriller Bad Moon also gets some HD love through the label.
The Criterion Collection has three titles debuting July 19. A Touch of Zen marks the HD debut of King Hu’s Wuxia classic while two other discs are dedicated to the work of Alan Resnais. Night and Fog upgrades the director’s Auschwitz documentary short to Blu-ray, while Muriel brings the filmmaker’s 1963 feature into the collection for the first time.
Warner Archive, then, upgrades Howard Hawks’ 1944 classic To Have and Have Not to Blu-ray as five more recent studio features arrive via the Archive’s MOD DVD program. Be on the lookout for 1988’s Stealing Home, 1989’s In Country, 1991’s Doc Hollywood, 1995’s Born to Be Wild and 1996’s My Fellow Americans.
As for small screen titles, July 19 brings home to Blu-ray and DVD the complete first season of The Magicians, the third season of The 100, the fourth season of Orphan Black and both the fifth and final season of Person of Interest along with a Complete Series box set.
Arriving on DVD only is the complete third and final season of Syfy‘s Bitten.
Key Digital HD titles arriving July 19 include the Warner Bros. action comedy Keanu and the fifth season of HBO‘s Veep.
