Quite a few notable recent big screen releases comes home this week, including the critically acclaimed Ex Machina , starring Alicia Vikander, Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson. After that, there’s It Follows , which offers a refreshing new take on movie monsters (and features an audio commentary track with ShockTillYouDrop ‘s own Sam Zimmerman!). Recent big screen sequels include both The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 while the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride rounds things out.
Last summer’s mutant ensemble gets a revisit this week with X-Men: Days of Future Past – The Rogue Cut , boasting brand new footage and special features that expand on 20th Century Fox’s side of the Marvel Universe.
The Criterion Collection this week upgrades the Alan Renais classic Hiroshima Mon Amour to Blu-ray and, for the first time, releases both Carroll Ballard’s 1979 Walter Farley adaptation, The Black Stallion , and Jan Troell’s 1966 debut feature Here Is Your Life .
Scream Factory, meanwhile, continues its incredible line of horror titles with a Blu-ray edition of The Howling II alongside two cult double features: The Outting and The Godsend and Cellar Dweller and Catacombs !
As far as small screen titles go, this week brings up both Adventure Time: Season Five (including all 52 episodes) and Powers: Season One , offering first ten episodes of the PlayStation Network series, based on the acclaimed comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.
