Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top entertainment hitting this week on Blu-ray and DVD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at all the major new releases, TV series sets and catalogue titles hitting the shelves Tuesday, May 19.
Grossing an impressive $543 million at the worldwide box office, Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper, kicks off the list of this week’s new releases, joined by the R-rated comedy sequel Hot Tub Time Machine 2, the Oscar-nominated Russian drama Leviathan and, hitting DVD only, Lucasfilm’s animated family adventure Strange Magic.
The Criterion Collection this week has a pair of offerings that tell two very different stories about fame. Charlie Chaplin’s Limelight becomes the sixth Chaplin film to join the collection, while Mark Rydell’s The Rose, starring Bette Midler, hits Blu-ray with a new restoration and quite a few newly-created special features.
Some catalogue horror also hits this week with Scream Factory delivering a special edition of Rupert Wainwright’s 1999 thriller Stigmata and MGM releasing both Poltergeist II & III as a double feature set, just in time for the upcoming Poltergeist reboot.
New arrivals from the small screen include the second season of the acclaimed Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, as well as complete series sets for both HBO’s prohibition era drama Boardwalk Empire and, hitting DVD only, Glee.
