After directing Liam Neeson in the 2012 sequel Taken 2, Megaton has returned for Taken 3, which take a different approach by not having anyone being kidnapped. Instead, Neeson’s operative with special skills, Bryan Mills, is framed for a murder he didn’t commit putting him on the run from the police while trying to find out who is really responsible.
In the video player below, you can watch our full interview in which Olivier talks about how he first started working with Luc Besson and the process with which they decide whether he’ll direct or not. He also talks about doing action scenes with a dramatic actor like Liam Neeson and doing two versions of the movie, one for a PG-13 theatrical release and an unrated version for the DVD. He tells us that he and Zoe Saldana have talked about doing another Colombiana movie, but he doesn’t think it’s very likely and why, and that he wants to do a smaller historic piece as his next movie since that’s more his speed.
Taken 3 opens on Friday, January 9 with previews on Thursday night. Check back soon for our interviews with the cast.
