Paul Feig Making Worst Roommate Ever Movie for Blumhouse

Paul Feig is making a Worst Roommate Ever movie for Blumhouse.

Worst Roommate Ever is a 2022 Netflix docuseries that is based on a New Yorker article published in 2018 that was written by Willian Brennan. The series recently premiered its second season in June 2024.

Per Deadline, Feig is now adapting Brennan’s article into a new movie for Blumhouse.

What do we know about Paul Feig’s Worst Roommate Ever movie?

“In the pic, a newly single woman finds a seemingly perfect gentleman to sublet the spare room in her dream home, but she soon learns that his deceit goes beyond a phony name and application, and she has unwittingly invited a serial squatter into her home who won’t leave without a fight,” Deadline’s description of the film reads.

Blumhouse’s Jason Blum said, “Worst Roommate Ever resonates so much because as the internet has connected so many of us, it also makes it easier than ever to lie about who you are. But then the story is jaw-dropping and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Paul is the perfect director for this because his work always manages to strike a balance between the dark and the light, and I’m very excited to see everything he will bring to this story.”

Feig added, “Jason and I have been trying to find the perfect project to collaborate on for years and this story is tailor-made to deliver the scares, thrills, emotion and comedy of dread that both he and I like to entertain audiences with. In other words, I couldn’t be happier to have Jason as the best roommate ever for this film.”

Feig will produce the film alongside Blum, Laura Fischer,  Chris Morgan, and Scoop Wasserstein. Ainsley Morgan, William Brennan, Bea Sequeira, and Shaun S. Sutton serve as executive producers. The script is being written by Stephen Susco.

Feig is known for creating the comedy series Freaks and Geeks in 1999. He has directed movies such as 2011’s Bridesmaids, 2013’s The Heat, 2015’s Spy, 2016’s Ghostbusters, 2018’s A Simple Favor, 2019’s Last Christmas, and 2022’s The School for Good and Evil. His next film, Jackpot, stars Awkwafina, John Cena, and Simu Liu. It releases on August 15, 2024.
