Recommendations: 6 Action Movies Like Ghosted That Are Worth Watching

In Ghosted, Chris Pratt Pine Evans discovers that his girlfriend Ana de Armas is a secret agent. This revelation throws a wrench in his perfect life. The Apple TV+ movie isn’t the most original idea in the world, as there are several action movies like Ghosted. Still, the film offers genial entertainment, and it’s always great to see de Armas in anything.

Still, as mentioned, the plot has popped up in countless other films. So, in case you are looking for more action movies like Ghosted and want to watch something along the same lines, I’ve compiled a list of movies that stick close to the same formula.

Knight and Day (2010)

This Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz movie is a lot of fun, and most will get a kick out of it. Directed by James Mangold, the action-packed comedy finds Diaz getting caught up in an adventure alongside Cruise’s covert operative. Released in 2010, Knight and Day only found middling success in theaters, but plenty of people since then have enjoyed its breezy charm and the dynamic duo headlining the fun.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)

Behold, the star power of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the peak of their Hollywood power! Mr. and Mrs. Smith incurred plenty of controversy due to the offscreen romance between the pair, enough to overshadow the actual film. Too bad, because this Doug Liman vehicle is a lot of fun in a mid-2000s sort of way.

There’s not much to the plot. Pitt and Jolie play a disgruntled married couple who discovers the other is a spy and must determine the next step in their relationship. Pitt and Jolie are charismatic as ever, and the numerous set pieces pack a punch. Plus, you get an extended Vince Vaughn cameo! What’s not to love?

True Lies (1993)

I’m biased because True Lies is one of my all-time favorite movies. Directed by the master himself, James Cameron, this blockbuster action/comedy finds Arnold Schwarzenegger leading a double life as a superspy unbeknownst to his wife, Jamie Lee Curtis. Eventually, she gets caught up in a wild adventure of jets, explosions, stunts, shootouts, and quippy one-liners.

As typical, Cameron stages a plethora of thrilling set pieces that get the adrenaline pumping, but the novel idea of a couple rekindling their love makes True Lies such a memorable feature. Tom Arnold steals the show as Arnold’s loyal but crass co-worker, while Bill Paxton has a blast playing a sleazy used-car salesman. Great stuff, folks!

The Bourne Trilogy (2002-07)

Forget the incompetent Bourne Legacy and the incredibly lazy Jason Bourne and bask in the awesomeness that is The Bourne Trilogy – The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum – in which Matt Damon goes nuclear as a rogue assassin suffering from amnesia.

While a tad dated all these years later, the series still kicks all kinds of ass, particularly Doug Liman’s original, which pairs Damon alongside Franka Potente with satisfying results. Action abounds, including a handful of expertly staged car chases, shootouts, and fist fights that’ll keep you on edge from start to finish.

This Means War (2012)

Chris Pine and Tom Hardy compete for Reese Witherspoon’s affections in McG’s This Means War, a bite-sized action comedy that should engage audiences needing a quick laugh. Here’s the gist: Pine and Hardy are CIA pals who do everything together. However, the pair become rivals when they meet and fall for Witherspoon’s plucky character, resulting in a madcap adventure packed with a few fun set pieces and some explosive sequences. I mean, it’s McG, so don’t get your hopes up too much, but This Means War has a little something for everyone.

The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)

Geena Davis stars as an average housewife who suddenly remembers her past life as a ruthless assassin in this Renny Harlin-directed action caper co-starring Samuel L. Jackson. As is typically the case, Shane Black’s script is far better than the final product. Still, there’s enough high-octane excitement and wicked comedy to make this goofy 90s product worth a look. Who would’ve thought Geena Davis would excel as an action hero? The unexpected pairing winds up working, and that is why it wraps up our list of action movies like Ghosted.
