Hitting theaters this Friday, October 31, writer/director Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler delivers a contemporary noir thriller with intense performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo.
Gyllenhaal stars as Louis Bloom, a young man disturbingly obsessed with moving forward in his new career as a Nightcrawler: a freelance videographer who, usually in the middle of the night, follows police signals to record crime scenes as they’re happening. Russo stars as Nina, a woman working for a local news station who, purchasing Bloom’s footage, finds herself drawn into Bloom sociopathic success story.
ComingSoon.net spoke with both Gyllenhaal and Russo about their work on the wholly original thriller and about how their respective characters are more similar than they may at first appear. Gyllenhaal also explains a key bit of mis en scene: the poster of Sitting Bull that Bloom keeps in his apartment. Check it all out in the video player below!
