The latest installment of Hallmark’s long-running Murder, She Baked series, Sweet Revenge: A Hannah Swensen Mystery airs Sunday, August 8 (9 p.m. ET/PT) as part of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. ComingSoon reached out to one of the film’s stars, Gabriel Hogan, to discuss his role in the film.
“Starring Alison Sweeney, Cameron Mathison, Barbara Niven, and Gabriel Hogan, Sweet Revenge picks up as Hannah (Sweeney) and Mike (Mathison) experience engaged life while balancing their busy careers, a murder at a 24-hour gym complicates their wedding planning,” reveals the synopsis.
Jeff Ames: You’ve been involved with the Hannah Swensen series since it first started in 2015 – what drew you to the series to begin with?
Gabriel Hogan: When I first joined the series, honestly it was like any other job. But after having so much fun in production on that first shoot, I was sold to come back for all the others. I also get along great with Alison (Sweeney) which is obviously so important. She’s great.

Norman Rhodes has been Hannah’s friend from the beginning, and the duo’s will-they/wont they romance is one of the core aspects of the show — where is the character in Sweet Revenge and how has he evolved since we last saw him?
You’ll find that Norman is the same old Norman when we catch up with the gang. Still very much in love with Hannah.
What is your approach to a character like Norman? And how is he different than other characters you’ve played?
Every character you play is unique. Typically what helps me is to try to find common ground between my own experiences and the character. That way when the time comes I can easily draw emotions from that particular place.
What can fans expect from Sweet Revenge?
Fans can expect to be on the edge of their seats for another thrilling mystery!
This is the sixth Murder She Baked flicks you have made – how has the cast and crew evolved over the years? Have you grown close with other cast members?
I am great friends with both Alison and Cameron. Actually, Cameron and my wife, Inga Cadranel, are starring together on General Hospital this year.

So, focusing a little more on you, what drew you to become an actor?
Ever since I was a small child I’ve always been interested in the arts. Probably mostly due to the fact that my household was full of artists. It was only natural for me.
What was your big breakout role?
A film called Head in the Clouds.
Looking at your filmography, you seem to be working nonstop! Is there a specific aspect of a production or script that you look for before signing onto a project?
I always need to be really interested in the script, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have people I like to work with on board for the projects, as well.
Out of all the films and TV shows you’ve worked on, is there a character you would like to return to at some point in the future?
I don’t think so. I prefer to look with excitement towards the future to new projects and experiences.
Any upcoming projects you can share with us?
I currently have a comedy series on HBO Max called Tacoma FD and am in development for a project based on the Michelle Barry novel The Prisoner and the Chaplain.
