Actress Gillian Jacobs plays a key role in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy of horror films, which is now streaming, as the mysterious C. Berman. The role was a thrill for Jacobs as she’s a huge R.L. Stine fan herself and read plenty of Goosebumps and Fear Street stories growing up.

“I was thrilled,” said Jacobs to ComingSoon of getting to work on Netflix’s Fear Street. “As soon as I heard about this project, it took me right back to being like 12 years old, reading R.L. Stine. My only sadness is that I have yet to meet him. I’m hoping by the end of this whole thing, I can get an autograph book. In anticipation of doing these interviews today, I was trying to look up old book covers and see which ones jogged a strong memory for me. There’s like one in particular, of course, now I’ve lost the title, but I saw it. It was like that jolt where like, oh my God, I remember reading this book. I remember this cover. So it was fun cause this trilogy feels like its own thing within the world of R.L. Stine. It’s not a direct adaptation of any one book, but it’s still really felt like it had that essence of R.L. Stine.”
