The pop culture sensation that began with Suzanne Collins’ best-selling book series continues to grow with next week’s release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which features the return of stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, and Donald Sutherland and the introduction of franchise newcomers Jena Malone, Sam Claflin and Philip Seymour Hoffman as well as the series’ new director, Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine).
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
ComingSoon.net caught up with the film’s ensemble cast during their own “Victory Tour” junket in Los Angeles. In the below set of interviews (our first of three), they discuss the challenges of following up last year’s monumental blockbuster and what it means to now be at the halfway point of the planned four-film franchise.
Check out the interviews in the player below and stay tuned for our interviews with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Jena Malone and Sam Claflin, coming next week!
