Comingsoon.net loves Fall, but we’re celebrating it a little differently this year. Check out the gallery below to see how!
Everyone knows that September means the start of the fall season. Falling leaves, Halloween decorations, Thanksgiving meals, bonfires to combat the chilly weather—it’s hard not to get caught up in it all. It’s a truly beautiful time of year, and one that practically begs to be captured on film. Unfortunately, this is not the kind of fall we’re talking about here.
No, the fall we’re concerned about is a titular kind. Not tripping, either—No, this list is not about pratfalls like the ones you could find in a Mr. Bean movie or a classic slapstick comedy. These are the very best “fall“ movies—that is, best movies with fall somewhere in the title.
Fall films
-
Fallen Angels (1995)
A Hong Kong-set crime drama from Wong Kar-wai, Fallen Angels is as great as anything else the filmmaker has done.
-
Falling Down (1993)
Before Joel Schumaker had some damage control to do in the wake of his Batman film in 1997, he was making Falling Down with Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall. It’s a crime-thriller that sees a former defense worker taking revenge on the society that wronged him.
-
Legends of the Fall (1994)
Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins are two of the greatest actors of our time—their collaboration in Legends of the Fall is enough to warrant a watch (or rewatch) as well as a placement on this list.
-
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
The latest Mission: Impossible film features plenty of falls, hence the title—nuclear fallout, falling out of planes, even falling off ledges and breaking ankles.
-
Skyfall (2012)
Will James Bond movies ever fall from glory? It’s not likely, but if they ever do, Skyfall will surely end up ranking among some of the best in the franchise’s history.
-
The Fall (2006)
A real spectacle of a film presented by Spike Jonze and David Fincher, The Fall is truly something special (despite sharing the word “fall” with all these other films).
-
The Fall of the House of Usher (1928)
Likely one of the first movies with “fall” in the title, The Fall of the House of Usher is a French horror film that features eventual superstar Luis Buñuel as an Assistant Director.
