Ateez Album Sales: Golden Hour PT. 1 Crosses Half a Million & Tops Music Charts

Ateez released their 2024 comeback album Golden Hour Part 1, and the first-day sales show that the K-pop act is on its way to making another impressive record.

The K-pop octet dropped their six-track extended play, Golden Hour Part 1, on May 31 at 1 p.m. KST/ 12 a.m. ET. The EP’s title track, “Work,” garnered over 6.8 million views within eight hours of its release. Along with the digital views, Ateez also saw high demand in their album sales in the real-time Hanteo Chart.

Ateez aims for record-making album sales with Golden Hour Part 1

KQ Entertainment’s Ateez is showing its impact on the first day of album sales. The group’s 2024 mini album, Golden Hour Part 1, sold over half a million copies within half a day of its release. In the real-time Hanteo Chart, Ateez occupies the first and second ranks, with sales for both versions crossing the half-a-million mark.

Apart from physical sales, Ateez reached number 1 in South Korea’s music chart Bug at number 1 with the title track “Work”, while other B-side tracks like “Blind,” “Siren,” “Shaboom,” and “Golden Hour” ranked within 20.

All Ateez tracks have also been spotted on the iTunes chart worldwide, with the group achieving over nine number-one spots within five hours of their release. Their early success in the chart projects the impressive performance of Golden Hour Part 1 overall.

Previously, Ateez made the impossible happen by reaching number 1 on Billboard 200 with their 2023 studio album, The World EP.Fin: Will. Generally, K-pop acts that have managed to top the prestigious Billboard 200 chart belong to the Big 4 companies, including HYBE, SM Entertainment, YG, and JYP.

So Ateez’s remarkable chart performance across the globe without the support of a music conglomerate impressed fans. It showed the genuine interest of music listeners’ in Ateez’s experimental rock-infused pop sound.

Ateez’s latest album packs a punch while also showing restraint in using the jarring vocal effect that has been the K-pop group’s signature style in many albums. Fans have hailed the EP as a ‘no-skip’ record of Ateez, and the group’s early charting records prove they are on the right track.
