May 2024 is set to be one of the most significant comeback months for K-pop groups. Globally popular K-pop bands like Stray Kids, Seventeen, ATEEZ, and more will make their much-anticipated return this month.
Along with K-pop comebacks, there are numerous K-pop concerts lined up next month. NCT Dream will take the stage at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome From May 2 to 4 as part of their World Tour 2024. Right after, SM Entertainment’s newest K-pop group, RIIZE, will hold their fan con world tour Seoul edition from May 4 to 5 at Jamsil Indoor Stadium.
From the comebacks of the biggest groups to fan-favorite superstars taking the stage, the K-pop fandom is eagerly waiting for May 2024 to arrive. This article will look at some of the biggest groups returning to the music scene this month.
Hyuna
After exiting Psy’s label P Nation, K-pop sensation Hyuna will release her comeback EP with her new agency, At Area, on May 2. The upcoming extended play (EP) Attitude will mark her tenth mini-album release since her solo debut on July 5, 2011.
Before the EP release, Hyuna released the single “Attitude” in November 2023. The song channeled everything that Hyuna is known for—her signature groovy beats, pop icon charisma, and sultry vocals. The performance video of the song has garnered over 9.5 million views since its release.
EXO Doh Kyung Soo
K-pop all-rounder EXO’s D.O., aka Doh Kyung Soo, will release his comeback album Blossom on May 7 at 6 p.m. KST/ 5 a.m. ET/ 2 a.m. PT/ 10 a.m. BST. The mini album will contain six tracks, including “Mars,” “Simple Joys,” “Popcorn,” “Good Night,” “My Dear,” and “About Time.” The album will also feature two music videos of the songs “Mars” and “Popcorn.”
Kyungsoo’s previous albums — Expectations, and Empathy — impressed fans as it exhibited his brilliance in depicting a story with precision. His 2023 album Expectations explored the themes of love and loss. The EXO star successfully transported listeners on a journey where they could experience firsthand how it felt to fall in love and the aftermath of losing it.
Seventeen
K-pop supergroup Seventeen will release their upcoming album Seventeen The Best ’17 Is Right Here’ on April 29 at 6 p.m. KST/ 5 a.m. ET/ 2 a.m. PT. The album will contain four new tracks and some of Seventeen’s most popular tracks in two CDs.
The upcoming album features songs titled “Don’t Wanna Cry,” “Rock With You,” “Ready To Love,” and “Hot.” The tracklist also includes four new tracks, including the title song “MAESTRO” and “LALALI,” “Spell,” and “Cheers to Youth.” The first song, “Maestro,” will drop on April 29 at 6 p.m. KST/ 5 a.m. ET. The next release, “LALALI,” will be released on May 10 at 12 a.m. KST/ May 9 at 11 a.m. ET.
NewJeans
ADOR’s girl group, NewJeans, will release two singles in May 2024. The title track, “How Sweet,” and the B-side song, “Bubble Gum,” will come to music platforms on May 24. Following the double single release, NewJeans will release two more songs, “Super Natural” and “Right Now,” on June 21.
NewJeans fans can witness the four new songs live on their fan meeting Bunnies Camp at Tokyo Dome on June 26 and 27 at 7 p.m. KST/ 6 a.m. ET. The concert will feature twenty-four live performances by the “Ditto” crooners.
Aespa
SM Entertainment’s award-winning girl group Aespa will unveil their first full-length album, Armageddon, on May 27th at 6 p.m. KST, 5 a.m. ET, 2 a.m. PT, and 10 a.m. BST. The pre-released single, “Supernova,” will drop on May 13 at 6 p.m. KST.
Armageddon will hold a special place in the Aespa-lore as reports say the album will continue the SM Culture narrative. It will initiate the season 2 story of Aespa’s worldview, which expands into the multiverse beyond the real and digital worlds. The album will contain ten tracks with two title songs, “Armageddon” and “Supernova.” Armageddon will be diverse in terms of genres. The group has combined energetic hip-hop, bright and cheerful dance songs, rhythmic modern pop, and ballads in Armageddon.
ATEEZ
KQ Entertainment’s famous K-pop group ATEEZ will make its 2024 comeback with their tenth EP, Golden Hour: Part. 1 on May 31 at 1 p.m. KST/ 12 a.m. ET. Following the new EP release, the K-pop act will kickstart its world tour on July 14 at Tacoma Dome.
The group will travel to ten cities in North America for its “TOWARDS THE LIGHT: WILL TO POWER” America tour, which will conclude on August 10 in Rosemond’s Allstate Arena. After wrapping up the North America tour, the group will perform at Summer Sonic Japan on August 17 and 18 in Osaka and Tokyo.
Stray Kids
Billboard 200 topper act Stray Kids will also make their much-anticipated comeback with the single “Lose My Breath” on May 10 at 1 p.m. KST, 12 a.m. ET, 5 a.m. BST, 6 a.m. CET, and 9 p.m. PT.
Their forthcoming track features global pop star Charlie Puth. Prior to the release of “Lose My Breath,” Stray Kids shared the first look of the single. The images tease a dream-like atmosphere where members pose against mirrored backdrops and sunset hues.
