Ji Chang-Wook’s New K-Drama Queen Woo Release Date Revealed on TVING

Queen Woo is an upcoming period-action TVING original K-drama starring the popular South Korean actor Ji Chang-Wook. Lee Byeong-Hak has served as the writer of the highly awaited series. Meanwhile, the director of Oh! My Gran, Jung Se-Kyo, has acted as the director. Viewers have been eagerly waiting to learn when the series will premiere.

TVING dropped a new trailer for Queen Woo on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, on its official Instagram channel. The trailer showcases glimpses of what to expect from the historical drama. It has also disclosed the exact release date of the series on the streaming platform.

As revealed by the trailer, the upcoming much-anticipated K-drama Queen Woo will debut on TVING on Thursday, August 29, 2024

The Korean period drama will chronicle the fascinating story of the fierce fight to choose a new king in the kingdom within a single day, right after the news of King Gogukcheon Goguryeo’s unfortunate demise starts spreading and igniting a massive battle between different tribes.

As shown in the newly released trailer, the story will put its main focus on the empress of Goguryeo, Woo Hee, who makes history by being the first woman to become a queen twice. The series will depict how Empress Woo Hee has to battle it out with several princes and tribes to keep her tribe and family safe. Thus, viewers are in for a highly thrilling new K-drama.

Queen Woo K-drama: Who is in the cast?

In Queen Woo, actress Jeon Jong-Seo is all set to portray the central character of Empress Woo Hee. She has previously acted in noteworthy K-dramas and movies such as Wedding Impossible, The Call, Burning, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, Ballerina, and several others.

In the meantime, actor Ji Chang-Wook will play another lead role of Go Nam-Mu, aka King Gogukcheon of Goguryeo, in the series. The actor has been a part of several notable K-dramas, including Healer, The K2, Suspicious Partner, The Worst of Evil, and more. He is also starring in the upcoming 2024 Korean action-thriller film Revolver.

Apart from them, the cast of Queen Woo also includes Kim Mu-Yul as Eul Pa-So, Jung Yoo-Mi as Woo Soon, Park Ji Hwan as Moo Gol, and Lee Soo-Hyuk as Go Bal-Gi, among others.
