Popular K-Pop Groups in K-Dramas: Lovely Runner’s Eclipse & More

Lovely Runner’s Eclipse gained immense fame among viewers despite being a fictional boy group in Byeon Woo-Seok’s K-drama. Over the years, the drama industry has released several shows in which fictional K-pop groups have become popular.

Before Eclipse, another popular K-drama, Twinkling Watermelon, introduced a prominent fictional band – Watermelon Sugar. Meanwhile, Mido and Falasol became a vital part of Hospital Playlist. All these bands are part of the storyline and are no doubt fictional. However, the playlist under those fictional groups’ names became quite famous.

Interestingly, Eclipse’s “Sudden Shower” even bagged its place in the Billboard Global 200 chart. As of now, it continues to stay on the list, alongside the latest releases of Jungkook and Taylor Swift. So, this article looks at the popular fictional K-pop groups that have appeared in K-dramas:

Lovely Runner: Eclipse

Lovely Runner is the 2024 K-drama, starring Byeon Woo-Seok and Kim Hye-Yoon. It turned out to be an instant hit, thanks to its time-slip love story and the cast’s on-screen chemistry. Another factor that added to the series’ success was the songs by its fictional boy band, Eclipse. The group consisted of Woo-Seok, Lee Seung-Hyub, Moon Xion, and Hyuk. Woo-Seok played Ryu Seon-Jae in the drama and was the main vocalist in the band.

The storyline begins with Im Sol (Hye-Yoon), his ardent fan, mysteriously transported to the past after Seon-Jae’s death. She travels multiple timelines to save him. Along the way, she learns that he loves her. One song that defines their relationship is “Sudden Shower,” sung by Woo-Seok. In the drama, Seon-Jae performs it on stage, explaining his first encounter with his first love. Aside from this track, some of the famous Eclipse songs include “Run Run,” “I’ll Be There,” “You & I,” and “Because I’ll Meet You.” The drama can be streamed on Viki.
