Netflix premiered a new reality TV show, Super Rich in Korea, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. The Korean reality series introduces five ultra-rich individuals from different parts of the world who live in South Korea.
One of the wealthiest people is David Yong, who describes himself as “Singapore’s Top 1% super-rich.” Although a Singaporean, he resides in Seoul and runs an investment company. He comes from a wealthy family and owns 11 top-model cars. The millionaire has also invested in the Korean entertainment industry.
David is straightforward and prefers shiny, branded clothes that highlight logos. Despite wealth and confidence, he cannot flirt with women. In Super Rich in Korea, his friend sets him up for a blind date, but he takes his good-looking friend Teo.
Netflix’s Super Rich in Korea: David & Teo go on a double date
Along with David Yong, Netflix’s Super Rich in Korea also introduces Teodoro Marani, a.k.a Teo. He and David met during an investment meeting and became close friends. Teo is an Italian living in Seoul for over three years.
His parents are the CEOs of a luxury fashion brand and want their son to inherit their business in Italy. But Teo intends to achieve his dreams, which he can do in South Korea. He does an import-export liquor business in the country and is a trained chef. Teo is a romantic with good looks and skills, too, as he never loses a chance to flirt.
In episode 4, David and Teo go on a double date. Their friend set them up with two women — Sally, a 29-year-old from Georgia living in Korea, and Hyun-Ji, a 29-year-old Korean. As David arrives late, the two ladies meet Teo first. The latter finds himself attracted to Hyun-Ji at first sight. Seeing his tactics, David realizes that the girls like Teo more. Despite branded clothes and a model car, David fails to impress Sally and Hyun-Ji.
Post the rejections, David mentions that he is happy for his friend Teo. In the final episode, Teo and Hyun-Ji enjoy a romantic date, and the latter says she would like to meet him again.
Super Rich in Korea recap: Meet five ultra-wealthy people and their connection to South Korea
Super Rich in Korea gives a glimpse into five ultra-wealthy people’s lifestyle and their love for Korea. At the same time, David has many properties in Korea and Teo dreams of settling in the country. Aside from these two, the reality TV show also introduced three super-rich ladies — Aren Yoo, Noor, and Kim Anna.
Aren Yoo or Yoo Hee-Ra is a Korean Client Ambassador who links clients to brands. She is a popular name in the fashion and modeling world. Aren’s weakness is clothes. She has a big closet that is bigger than her bedroom. Also, Aren doesn’t repeat an outfit and dreams of collecting designer clothes to open a museum.
She is friends with Noor, a social influencer. She is an Iraqi-American from Dubai with 50 million followers in the Middle East. Noor started making YouTube videos when she was in high school. As a content creator, she loves South Korea and defines it as “Soul in Seoul.” The influencer has been living in the country for three years and wishes to own properties in the city.
In Super Rich in Korea, the fifth cast member is Kim Anna, a Pakistani with Korean nationality. She has lived in Korea for ten years and married a nobleman in Pakistan. She travels back and forth to both countries. Anna is a businesswoman who runs a cosmetic company and wishes to bring Korean cosmetics to Pakistan.
The final episode features all five friends making multiple boxes of kimchi for charity. They spend time with each other, eating, drinking, and praising the country.
The reality TV show comprises six episodes and is currently streaming on Netflix. Cho Sae-Ho, BamBam, and Mimi are the co-hosts, and Yuh Woon-Hyuk is the director.
