Blood Free episode 5: Ju Ji-Hoon navigates new information about Han Hyo-Joo

The latest Blood Free episode began with documenting the consequences of the attack on Yoon Ja-Yoo, Woo Chae-Won, and a few of the other BF team members. On San arrived just in time with the police and the ambulance. On their way back, escorting a fatally injured Chae-Woon, Ja-Yoo instructed that they open up the BF Group basement. Meanwhile, researcher Hong Sae-Ip joined the team as they treated Chae-Woon.

The team decided to use cultured tissue to treat Chae-Woon, which Ja-Yoo claimed would be their first success story. On the other hand, Prime Minister Seon Woo-Jae navigated the raid on the police station. In a conversation with the President, he revealed that the mastermind behind the gang’s raid gathered ex-convicts with drugs as bait to kill Yoon Ja-Yoo.

The BF team began their treatment on Chae-Woon. They realized that his cochlear nerves were mostly damaged. When they wondered the reason behind it, Ja-Yoo realized it was because of the bomb blast at Azoran. The team became successful in treating his injury from the recent attack.

Ja-Yoo updated Jung Hae-Dun on what to say to the police without revealing who was injured. Hae-Dun tried to gain access to the basement, but she couldn’t access it. Ja-Yoo locked herself in a room and dealt with the repercussions of the attack. Later, she decided to stay in the lab, monitoring Chae-Woon. Meanwhile, former President Lee Mun-Gyu kept calling Chae-Woon, worried about the latter’s safety.

Seon Woo-Jae discovered that Bosque Archi coerced the attack suspect with drug supply rights in exchange for killing Ja-Yoo. Previously, the gang put a bounty on anyone who would kill the BF Group CEO. Woo Jae’s father, Seon Woo-Geun, suspected him, but he expressed not having a hand in the attack or Chae-Woon’s injury. Meanwhile, Ja-Yoo held a meeting with her stakeholders, advising On San to show interest in Whole Omega company’s microorganism technology to retain their interest in investing in their cultured meat market.

After the meeting, Ja-Yoo asked On San to keep an eye on Chae-Woon as she went to the latter’s house. While she fed Chae-Woon’s cat, he woke up from his injury. He passed a sleeping On San and entered the laboratory, where he saw multiple human organs preserved. Chae-Woon then confronted Ja-Yoo over a call to ask if they had transplanted pig organs into his body. However, Ja-Yoo denied his claim, stating no transplant had occurred.

On San arrived at the lab, asking Chae-Woon to leave. The latter accused Ja-Yoo of culturing human organs in the lab. Although Ja-Yoo assured him of an explanation later, Chae-Woon left the lab. On his way back, he felt a strange discomfort in his left ear. He then went to Lee Mun-Gyu’s residence but found Woo-Jae. The latter was surprised at Chae-Woon’s recovery. Woo-Jae sensed that Chae-Woon was looking for the real culprit behind the Azoran bomb blast.

Woo-Jae expressed that they had already imprisoned Chae-Woon’s comrade, who was indeed responsible for the blast. Even the slightest sounds made a bigger impact on Chae-Woon’s left ear. Chae-Woon left the residence after promising to find the real culprit. On his way back, his ear continued to bother him with a stronger sound than his other ear.

Seon Woo-Geun recalled his conversation with an NBA player 10 years ago, during which he promised to develop a technology that could make humans immortal. He decided to acquire BF Group so that he could replace his human organs using their technology, as his cloning technology was making no progress.

By the end of the episode, Chae-Woon confronted Ja-Yoo and On San on their treatment. He discovered they transfused cultured blood and muscle fibers to treat his wound. However, Chae-Woon realized that he was at risk of facing side effects. Furthermore, On San also implanted a chip in Chae-Woon’s ear to test their technology and possibly provide a proper treatment. Previously, Chae-Woon was against the surgery as it would potentially lead to complications.

Chae-Woon revealed that even the faintest sounds in his ear felt like an explosion due to their treatment. He felt frustrated at the team experimenting on him with their cell culture technology. Chae-Woon accused the team of being money-hungry and selling human organs in exchange for a huge sum. The episode ended with Ja-Yoo entering a secret room inside the lab.
