Chief Detective 1958 is an upcoming crime suspense K-drama on MBC. Starring Lee Je-Hoon and Lee Dong-Hwi, the series’ network recently shared a few photos focusing on the friendship of the lead characters.
Set in the 1950s, the drama features a young detective who forms a team of unlikely detectives to fight corruption. Je-Hoon essays the role of Park Young-Han, while Dong-Hwi plays his team member Kim Sang-Soon. Aside from these two, the troupe includes Choi Woo-Sung as Jo Kyung-Hwan and Yoon Hyun-Soo as Seo Ho-Jung.

Chief Detective 1958 photos focus on Lee Je-Hoon & Lee Dong-Hwi’s friendship
The recently released Chief Detective 1958 photos add comedy to the characters’ storyline. The first photo features Park Young-Han and Kim Sang-Soon in an attention pose, saluting with ice cream sticks in their hands.
The second picture highlights the friendship between the two detectives. It looks like Sang-Soon is sulking, and Young-Han is comforting him. The final photo shows the two sitting on the ground, injured. They put their hands on their respective heads as if they had been hurt. Their expressions add humor to the story.
Chief Detective 1958 is a prequel to the popular and classic South Korean drama Chief Inspector, which ran from 1971 to 1989. In the upcoming drama, Lee Je-Hoon plays the younger version of Chief Inspector Park Young-Han from the original series. Director Kim Sung-Hoon has helmed the new project while Park Jae-Bum is the screenwriter.
The crime-thriller K-drama will premiere on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 9.50 p.m. KST on MBC. Consisting of 10 episodes, it will air on Fridays and Saturdays every week. The finale will be released on May 18, 2024.
