Actor Byeon Woo-Seok will soon appear in his upcoming tvN K-drama, Lovely Runner. In a promotional event, he mentioned that he wants to be called the “rom-com genius.”
Lovely Runner is a fantasy romance drama about a K-pop idol, Ryu Seon-Jae, and his fan, Im Sol. After his sudden death, devastated Im Sol transports back to the time when Seon-Jae was a 19-year-old school student. She becomes determined to change his sad ending and find love along the way.
Recently, the cast and crew of the upcoming series attended a tvN’s production presentation, where Woo-Seok opened up about the drama and his role.
Byeon Woo-Seok reveals why he chose K-drama Lovely Runner
At the tvN event, StarNews interviewed Byeon Woo-Seok on his new K-drama, Lovely Runner. The actor explained why he chose to be part of this project.
He said that he was “aiming for it.” Woo-Seok added (originally in Korean), “I really like romantic comedies. I wanted to show a variety of sides, not just one. I wanted to do a romantic comedy after my previous work, Strong Girl Nam-Soon.” Furthermore, Woo-Seok mentioned that he had been manifesting to work on such rom-com roles, and luckily, Lovely Runner came to him.
The interviewer asked what he would like to be known as after his role in the upcoming drama. Woo-Seok replied, “Dare I say it, I would like to be called ‘rom-com genius Byeon Woo-Seok.’ I hope you give me this qualifier.”
In the new drama, Woo-Seok will showcase different aspects of his character, Ryu Seon-Jae. From a 19-year-old swimmer in school uniform to a charming 34-year-old top star, the actor will don many looks. The time-slip romance fantasy series also stars Kim Hye-Yoon as Im Sol, who will be Seon-Jae’s love interest.
Lovely Runner will premiere on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 8.50 p.m. KST on tvN. It will also air on TVING and Viki.
