The Impossible Heir ending: What happened to Lee Jae-Wook, Lee Jun-Young & Hong Su-Zu at the end?

The final episode of The Impossible Heir began with Han Tae-Oh mourning the loss of his late mother, Seo Ji-Suk. Na Hye-Won handed him a letter from his mother, which asked him to let go of all the anger, hate, and memories and start afresh. He returned to his house in his hometown and reflected on the reason behind coming this far. Tae-Oh eventually went to an unconscious Chairman Kang Joong-Mo, promising to protect the conglomerate group.

Ahead of the shareholders’ meeting, Kang Seung-Ju visited his mother, Jang Geum-Suk, who was in prison. He asked her to let go of her greed to take over the conglomerate. Seung-Ju explained how miserable he was throughout his life because of his mother’s greed. He expressed his desire to be happy, and the mother-son duo broke down. Meanwhile, Park Sajin received a call from his daughter, Park Jin-Gyeong, who was the prison doctor. She called him to meet her.

Meanwhile, everyone gathered for the meeting when they discovered In-Ha was arrested on charges of Kang In-Ju’s murder and ordering Mo Gi-Jun’s murder as well. On the other hand, Jin-Gyeon revealed how she suffered because of In-Ju, leading her to become addicted to drugs. Park Sajin decided to make things right and do what was suitable for his daughter.

Prosecutor Ha Myung-Jun confronted In-Ha on his crimes. The latter was confident of getting out of this as he believed they had no evidence. However, Myung-Jun brought in Mo Gi-Jun, who was alive. Apparently, Jin-Gyeong arrived at his rescue after the prison guard stabbed him in prison. After seeing no remorse in In-Ha’s face, Gi-Jun got frustrated. Previously, Tae-Oh revealed that he would d help Gi-Jun live his life.

Soon, Myung-Jun played an audio tape indicating that In-Ha murdered his step-brother In-Ju and let Gi-Jun take the fall for it. Meanwhile, Tae-Oh asked Park Sajin to take Kang Oh Energy at a hefty sum. The following day, prosecutors raided In-Ha’s office, and Joong-Mo ordered In-Ha’s last name to be changed from “Kang” to “Baek,” to where he previously belonged. During his trial, the court offered In-Ha to say a few words. However, he thought of saying a lot but decided to keep quiet. The judge then sentenced him to life in prison.

Later, Tae-Oh met with In-Ha one last time. Neither of them exchanged apologies, but Tae-Oh handed In-Ha their graduation photo with Hye-Won before leaving. In-Ha stopped Tae-Oh to say something but decided against it once again. Meanwhile, Hee-Joo decided to go on an extended vacation, and Hye-Won worked for the President. At night, Tae-Oh and Hye-Won discussed their similarities while drinking.

When Tae-Oh asked why she hadn’t met In-Ha yet, Hye-Won expressed her desire to live for herself. However, back in prison, In-Ha killed himself. The scene shifted three years later when Kang Seung-Ju became the CEO of the Co-Prosperity Cooperation Center. Tae-Oh helped the chairman’s project come true. Eventually, as Joong-Mo desired, Tae-Oh became the next Kang Oh Group Chairman.

By the end of the episode, he visited In-Ha’s resting place and placed flowers. On his way back, he received a message from Hee-Joo, who was enjoying her vacation. She finally was able to move on from him. All the other side characters also received their closure. In the end, both Tae-Oh and Hye-Won saw fireworks, indicating their dream of reaching the top finally came true. However, both of them had to lose a lot as well.
