The South Korean entertainment industry never fails to provide exciting content to its fans. After releasing anticipated shows in March, a line-up of new K-dramas will premiere in April 2024.
The list includes Parasyte: The Grey, starring Jeon So-Nee, Koo Gyo-Hwan, and Lee Jung-Hyun; Lovely Runner, featuring Kim Hye-Yoon and Byeon Woo-Seok; and more. Queen of Tears, Wonderful World, and The Midnight Studio entertained the viewers last month.
Let’s look at the new K-dramas releasing in April 2024:
Parasyte: The Grey
Parasyte: The Grey is an upcoming K-drama revolving around the parasite world. The story is about a parasite attack on Earth. They feed on the human brain and body. Jung Soo-In (Jeon So-Nee) gets infected. However, the parasite fails to tame her brain. She figures out how to co-exist. Meanwhile, Choi Joon-Kyung (Lee Jung-Hyun), the team leader of the life team “The Grey,” works towards terminating the parasitic water that killed her husband.
The K-drama is based on the best-selling manga Parasyte by Hitoshi Iwaaki. It will premiere on Netflix on April 5, 2024.
Lovely Runner
Lovely Runner is the highly anticipated new K-drama, releasing on April 8, 2024, on tvN and Netflix. Starring Kim Hye-Yoon and Byeon Woo-Seok, it is a romance drama adapted from Kim Bbang’s web novel, The Best of Tomorrow. The series revolves around Im Sol and her K-pop idol, Ryu Sun-Jae.
Im Sol is heartbroken after Sun-Jae’s tragic death. He was a former swimmer who became a K-pop idol. In a strange twist of fate, she travels back to 2008 when Sun-Jae was only 19 years old. Im Sol believes it to be an opportunity to give her idol a happy ending. In her quest, she may find love.
Missing Crown Prince
Missing Crown Prince is a new K-drama releasing next month. It tells the story of the missing case of Crown Prince Yi Gun (EXO’s Suho). When he goes missing, everyone panics and searches for him around Joseon. The prince is kidnapped by a young woman named Choi Myung-Yoon (Hong Ye-Ji).
Circumstances make the two characters run for their lives. Although their relationship begins on a negative note, their tension turns into romance. Meanwhile, Grand Prince Do Sung’s (Kim Min-Kyu) life takes a turn. After the Crown Prince goes missing, he is bombarded with the kingdom’s responsibilities. Missing Crown Prince will premiere on April 13, 2024, on MBN.
Chief Detective 1958
Chief Detective 1958 premieres on April 19, 2024, on MBC. Starring Lee Je-Hoon in the lead role, the crime-thriller K-drama revolves around a young, passionate detective forming a team of skilled detectives to fight corruption.
The new K-drama is the prequel to the classic series Chief Inspector, which ran from 1971 to 1989. In Chief Detective 1958, Detective Park Young-Han (Je-Hoon) will create a team, including Kim Sang-Soon (Lee Dong-Hwi), Jo Kyung-Hwan (Choi Woo-Sung), and Seo Ho-Jung (Yoon Hyun-Soo). They will be an unlikely group of detectives using unique methods to bring justice.
Blood Free
Blood Free is an upcoming thriller K-drama airing on April 10, 2024. The storyline revolves around a future where the consumption of natural animal meat is prohibited. A biotechnology company, BF Group, runs the artificial culture meat market. People inside and outside the company begin to question the company’s intention.
The lead characters include Yoon Ja-Yoo (Han Hyo-Joo), the CEO of the BF Group, and Woo Chae-Woon (Ju Ji-Hoon), a former soldier turned bodyguard. The series will air on Disney Plus.
