Episode 5 of the mystery-solving variety show Apartment 404 arrived on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, March 22, 2024. The show stars Yang Se-Chan, Oh Na Ra, Cha Tae-Hyun, Yoo Jae-Suk, Jennie of Blackpink and Lee Jung-Ha. The show presents the cast with a brand-new apartment mystery case based on a real-life story in the latest episode. The case takes place in 1991.
The 1991 mystery of the apartment in Apartment 404 episode 5 revolves around a poisoning case involving phenol. Similar to the preceding episodes, the cast is divided into two groups. One group includes Jennie, Yoo Jae-Suk, and Cha Tae-Hyun. Meanwhile, the other group includes Oh Na Ra, Yang Se-Chan and Lee Jung-Ha. In the episode, the cast has to find the mystery of the 1991 case and a person, addressed as “A”, who is the culprit in the phenol case.
Apartment 404 Episode 5: Do cast members find the culprit in 1991 mystery case?
Episode 5 of Apartment 404 begins with an introduction to the 1991 apartment case. All six cast members enter the apartment and start the day by bringing a birthday cake to celebrate Jennie’s birthday. Soon after the celebration, a woman, the apartment representative comes knocking at their door. She tells them that it is the cleaning day, and thus, they all need to come out and take part in cleaning the apartment.
During the cleaning session, the woman gives some of the other residents of the apartment some coffee to drink. After drinking the coffee, suddenly, those residents start to collapse. Then, a medical team arrives and takes them to the hospital. Police detectives take the apartment representative to the police station. Now, the six cast members have to find out what the mystery of the apartment is. Soon, they gather to play games where they can win clues to solve the mystery. From the clues, both teams realize that the case is somehow related to water.
In Apartment 404, episode 5, all the cast members initially suspect the apartment representative as she has a lot of packaged mineral water bottles stacked in her room. However, later on, the detective arrives at the apartment and tells the cast members that the representative woman has been freed of all accusations. She is not the culprit. Thereafter, the cast plays another game and wins more clues.
This time, through the clues, they realize that the case is related to phenol, which caused water poisoning in 1991. This poisoning caused blue-colored rashes on the affected individuals. The cast has also been poisoned, as they all have blue marks on themselves. Then, the show addresses the culprit as “A”. The culprit is behind the poisoning of the coffee, which made the residents collapse. The show further declares that whoever among the cast will identify the culprit and bring any of their belongings to the police car parked outside before 5 p.m. will win the game.
As shown in episode 5 of Apartment 404, the cast members initially suspect Lee Jung-Ha. Thus, they bring his belongings to the police car. But the show reveals that he is not the culprit “A”. Later on, by thinking about the clues again, Yang Se-Chan first realizes that the security guard of the apartment, Im Woo-Il is the real culprit in the case. Thus, all the cast chase after him to pick up any of his belongings. In the end, Yoo Jae-Suk snatches his security guard cap and puts it inside the police car right before the time ends. Thus, he wins episode 5’s mystery game.
