The Midnight Studio episode 3 aired on Monday, March 18, 2024, on ENA. Starring Joo Won as Seo Ki-Joo and Kwon Na-Ra as Han Bom, the horror comedy K-drama revolves around a ghost photographer and a lawyer with special powers.
In episode 2, Han Bom saves Ki-Joo from an attack by ghosts. When he falls on top of her, a magical circle is created around them. It appears to be a protective shield for Ki-Joo.
Episode 3 begins with Ki-Joo in shock while asking Han Bom about the circle. She looks clueless and accuses him of kidnapping the twin from episode 2. At the police station, he tries to resolve her misunderstanding, but she initially refuses to listen to him. She even laughs at him when Ki-Joo reveals his truth about seeing ghosts.
The Midnight Studio episode 3 spoilers: Why did Kwon Na-Ra refuse to protect Joo Won?
In The Midnight Studio episode 3, Joo Won’s Ki-Joo ends up in jail because of a complaint filed by Kwon Na-Ra’s Han Bom. Although he tells her he is a ghost photographer, she doesn’t believe him. He requests her not to leave him alone at the police station as evil ghosts want him dead.
After Han Bom leaves, Assistant Manager Ko (Yoo In-Soo) helps Ki-Joo and bails him out. The latter needs to be near Han Bom in order to stay alive for 100 days. For context, his family curse is that no male member can live beyond the age of 35. Ki-Joo has only 100 days left before his 35th birthday and, hence, cannot allow any ghost to kill him sooner.
Ki-Joo somehow convinces Han Bom to visit his photo studio after midnight. When she visits the place, the photographer shows her around and introduces her to his ghost employees — Assistant Manager Ko and Baek Nam-Goo (Eum Moon-Suk). Ki-Joo explains to her why he cannot step outside alone and why he needs her.
The next day, Ki-Joo and his employees set out to help a church’s father fulfill his final wish before crossing over to the world of the dead. While doing so, Ki-Joo gets caught for trespassing and stealing the father’s laptop. At the police station, he calls lawyer Han Bom. After resolving the situation, Kwon Na-Ra’s character finally believes Ki-Joo’s story. The latter asks her again to be his safe zone, but she declines the offer.
Han Bom blames herself for the death of an accused. Hence, she believes she cannot save anyone. She says, “I can’t let someone be in danger again. I understand how desperate you are for the circle, but I’ll continue to live as an honest and kind citizen.”
The Midnight Studio episode 3 ending: Kwon Na-Ra’s grandmother enters Joo Won’s photo studio
The Midnight Studio episode 3 ends on a sad note. After Han Bom (Kwon Na-Ra) declines Ki-Joo’s offer, Joo Won’s character understands her decision. While he heads out of the photo studio, he sees Han Bom’s grandmother entering the place.
Soon, he figures out that she is dead. The episode’s ending shows Han Bom receiving the news and rushing home. She has a panic attack in the middle of the road. Ki-Joo brings her to the side of the road and looks at her affectionately. Crying, she asks him, “You didn’t see her, right? I’m mistaken, right? Come on and say I’m mistaken.”
While she breaks down, Ki-Joo looks across the street, where her grandmother’s ghost looks at Han Bom with sad eyes.
