Upcoming tvN K-drama Queen of Tears revealed its cast members on Wednesday, January 31, 20234. The cast gathered for their first script reading, including Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Ji-Won. The series tells the story of chaebol heiress Hong Hae-In and Baek Hyun-Woo as they navigate challenges three years into marriage. The drama is set to premiere in March 2024 and is considered one of the year’s most anticipated series.
Apart from the lead couple, Queen of Tears features other popular cast members like Park Sung-Hoon, Kwak Dong-Yeon, and Lee Joo-Bin. They all have pivotal roles in the series, as seen from their perfect chemistry and camaraderie during script reading. Park Ji-Eun (My Love from the Star, Producer, Crash Landing on You) serves as the writer for the drama.
Queen of Tears script reading reveals Kim Soo-Hyun, Kim Ji-Won & more cast members
Reportedly, Kim Soo-Hyun, Kim Ji-Won, and other cast members performed their roles perfectly during the script reading. The lead couple, Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Ji-Won, play Baek Hyun-Woo and Hong Hae-In, respectively. Hae-In is a chaebol heiress who is called the “queen” of Queen Group’s department stores. Meanwhile, her husband, Hyun-Woo, belongs to a simple family and is the son of the head of Yongduri. He is also the Queen Group’s legal director.
The two end up facing a crisis three years into the marriage, clashing over differences of opinion regarding the company but also showing affection on a few days. As such, the drama follows how the couple manages to overcome the crisis and fall in love all over again.
During the script reading session, the lead actors immersed themselves in their roles, delivering appropriate emotion at the script reading. Other cast members include Park Sung-Hoon, who plays investment expert Yoon Eun-Sung. He adds tension to the drama and forms a close relationship with the conglomerate group. Kwak Dong-Yeon plays Hae-In’s younger brother, Hong Soo-Chul. Lee Joo-Bin plays his wife, Cheon Da-Hye. Viewers can expect the two to lighten the mood with their lovey-dovey romantic moments.
Many other cast members will be seen playing supporting roles as the Queens Group members and Hae-In’s family—Kim Gap-Soo, Lee Mi-Sook, Jeong Jin-Young, Na Young-Hee, and Kim Jung-Nan. Meanwhile, Hyun-Woo’s family members include Jeon Bae-Soo, Hwang Young-Hee, Kim Do-Hyun, and Jang Yoon-Ju.
