Starring Park Ji-Hoon and Hong Ye-Ji, Love Song for Illusion episode 8 aired on Monday, January 29, 2024, on KBS. The K-drama tells the story of a king with an alter ego and their fight over a woman.
In episode 7, King Sajo Hyeon’s second personality, Ak-Hee, took over his body. He wanted to reunite with Kyera but was disappointed when she kept asking about the king. To get back at her, he agreed to spend the night with the queen.
In Love Song for Illusion episode 8, Ak-Hee sneaks out of the queen’s room at midnight and meets Kyera. He assures her that he didn’t sleep with the queen, but Kyera insists he fulfill his duty as a husband and a king, which hurts Ak-Hee. He gets furious when he realizes that Kyera never loved him but has feelings for Sajo Hyeon.
Love Song for Illusion episode 8 spoilers: Hong Ye-Ji rejects Park Ji-Hoon’s Ak-Hee’s love
Love Song for Illusion episode 8 begins with Ak-Hee (Park Ji-Hoon) in Queen Geum-Hwa’s chamber. He makes her drunk and then searches for Kyera’s dagger. He sneaks out of the room early after the queen dozes off.
Ak-Hee meets Kyera near the lake and tells her that nothing happened between him and Guem-Hwa. Hong Ye-Ji’s character responds by saying that he should have slept with the queen, leaving Ak-Hee in shock. He asks her if she would be okay with him being with another woman. Ak-Hee points out that Kyera confessed her love to him the other day and was even relieved that he refused to spend a night with Geum-Hwa. However, he gets more confused with her behavior when she hugs him and finds out that he is not Sajo Hyeon but Ak-Hee.
He becomes heartbroken after realizing she is concerned about Sajo Hyeon and not him. Ak-Hee raises his voice at her and asks her to come back to him and love only him. Rejecting his love, Kyera says, “I know you help me and treat me well. I am thankful for that. But the thing is…” When she hesitates, Ak-Hee adds, “You never had feelings for me.”
Ak-Hee then returns to his chamber and begins to look for Shaman Cheong-Ta. He wants to lock away Sajo Hyeon for good and win back Kyera. Meanwhile, his actions at the royal court make Sajo Yung (Hwang Hee) suspicious, thinking he is not Sajo Hyeong. Later, Ak-Hee tries to participate in political affairs to impress Kyera, but she advises him to act like Sajo Hyeong, making him furious.
Love Song for Illusion episode 8 ending: Ak-Hee bids heartbreaking farewell to Kyera
Towards the end of the Love Song for Illusion Episode 8, Kyera (Hong Ye-Ji) finds a few suspicious things at the palace. She follows a trail but gets attacked by Sajo Yung’s people. When she is bought unconscious in a secluded chamber, Hwang Hee’s character draws a dagger to kill her.
Ak-Hee then appears and fights him. When Park Ji-Hoon’s character is about to stab Sajo Yung, Kyera stops him in her faint voice. Once she wakes up, she finds Ak-Hee waiting for her. He asks her to leave as he cannot watch her get hurt despite the rejection.
He convinces her that he will let Sajo Hyeon take over his body if she promises to leave the palace. She requests to meet Sajo Hyeong one last time before she leaves. Initially, Ak-Hee denies her offer but fulfills her wish in the end. The episode ends with Ak-Hee’s heartbreaking farewell to Kyera as he lets Sajo Hyeon take over. The latter and Kyera have an emotional reunion, ending with a kiss.
