The recently released trailer of Captivating the King episode 5 features the lives of Jo Jung-Suk and Shin Sae-Kyung’s characters fast-forwarding to three years. The K-drama tells the story of a lonely king and a baduk player.
In episode 4, Prince Lee In becomes the new king and punishes Kang Hee-Soo and other innocent prisoners. When her friend dies, she runs away and promises herself to seek revenge on the king for betrayal. After three years, she returns to the palace, disguised as male baduk player Kang Mong-Woo. Following this, the Captivating the King episode 5 trailer shows her first encounter with King Lee In after three years.

Captivating the King episode 5 trailer begins with a man asking Hee-Soo (Shin Sae-Kyung) if she is ready to risk her life. She mentions that she has been ready for this day since she made a vow to herself three years ago.
Meanwhile, King Lee In (Jo Jung-Suk) orders Kim Myung-Ha (Lee Shin-Young) to revive a peach tree in the royal garden. He threatens to punish Myung-Ha if he fails to do so. For context, the latter forged a false confession three years ago that led to his father’s death and forced the king to punish Mong-Woo.
Myung-Ha narrates, “It appears that many people have long waited for my death.” The trailer further shows the king wanting to hire a baduk player. As a result, the palace holds a competition to find a professional. Mong-Woo participates in it and enters the palace. She and Lee In come face-to-face, leaving the king in shock. She is heard telling someone, “I have returned to bring down the king who tricked his way onto the throne.”
Captivating the King episode 5 will air on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN. The K-drama also streams on Netflix.
