The trailer for Doctor Slump episode 1 begins with a glimpse into Yeo Jeong-Woo and Nam Ha-Neul’s high school in Busan in the year 2009. Ha-Neul only knows to study and does that while going to school or amid the family chaos. The two meet each other when she joins his school. Until now, Jeong-Woo was considered superior in academics. However, he has stiff competition in Ha-Neul, leading the two to become high school rivals.
The two share a lot of banter in high school but ultimately get busy with making their own lives. Jeong-Woo is a well-known plastic surgeon, while Ha Neul works as an anesthesiologist. The two navigate their lives but face a major slump in their professional careers. It is 14 years, later that they reunite on the rooftop of an apartment. Jeong-Woo gets beaten up in the next few scenes of the trailer while a senior screams at Ha-Neul.
He suffers the consequences of a medical accident. Meanwhile, Ha-Neul struggles with burnout and ultimately quits her job. After their reunion in 2023, the two spend quality time together at a bar or by the beach and eventually find comfort in each other. From being rivals, they reunite and become friends. Gradually, they fall in love.
