Episode 16 (finale) of My Man Is Cupid, starring Nana and Jang Dong-Yoon, arrived on Saturday, January 20, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video. Followers of the romantic fantasy K-drama had been quite eager to learn how the series ended, especially after the previous episode 15 left them on a stirring note, with Jae-Hee’s (Park Ki-Yoong) car exploding with Nana’s character, Baek-Ryun, inside.
The finale episode of My Man Is Cupid revealed that Baek-Ryun was alive as Sang-Hyuk (Jang Dong-Yoon) saved her in his cupid form. However, the episode then took viewers on a highly emotional ride. My Man Is Cupid episode 16 (finale) started with Jang Dong-Yoon’s Sang-Hyuk and Nana’s Baek-Ryun having a heart-to-heart conversation. After that, the two vowed to stay together forever and exchanged rings. Then, the episode returned to the moment when Sang-Hyuk learned from the God of fate that Baek-Ryun’s fate was to die for Jae-Hee. At that moment, Baek-Ryun was sitting inside Jae-Hee’s car with a bomb going off in a few seconds.
When Sang-Hyuk tried to tell Baek-Ryun to get out of the car, the process of his next metamorphosis began. The episode then showcased that Sang-Hyuk previously told his friend, Cheon Dong-Chil, who was another cupid, to shoot him with his arrow when the metamorphosis began. Following Sang-Hyuk’s instructions, Dong-Chil shot him, and his wings turned black in episode 16 of My Man Is Cupid.
However, he was able to break the cocoon and get out of it at the right time to save Baek-Ryun. Right after the bomb inside Jae-Hee’s car exploded, Sang-Hyuk successfully arrived there and flew above with Baek-Ryun in his arms. Jae-Hee witnessed the incident. The serial killer, who was Song Yeong-Cheol, also saw what happened and escaped from the place. Sang-Hyuk went behind him, and the two ended up having a fatal fight.
In the fight, Song Yeong-Cheol fell from a tall building and lost his life. Thus, he received his ultimate punishment for the heinous crimes he committed. However, during the fight, Sang-Hyuk got fatally injured. When Baek-Ryun arrived there, Sang-Hyuk passed away in her arms and vanished into the air. With him, all of his cupid friends also vanished in thin air. Baek-Ryun completely broke down after losing Sang-Hyuk.
My Man Is Cupid Episode Ending: What happened to Sang-Hyuk
Towards the end of the My Man Is Cupid finale episode, Jae-Hee seemed to still care for Baek-Ryun as he kept bringing food for her. Finally, Baek-Ryun met him, and Jae-Hee thanked her for believing in him. He then told her that they would not meet again. From that day, Baek-Ryun again started continuing her normal lifestyle as a vet. She also began her prayer to the mountain god in the hope of a miracle this time.
The My Man Is Cupid finale episode then jumped to three years later in 2026. Baek-Ryun was close to completing her thousandth prayer to the mountain god. However, right before the thousandth prayer day, she saw that the calendar, where she had been marking the days, already had the mark of the thousandth day.
However, the next day, she felt different and decided to go to the mountain area to pray for the miracle for the final time. When she finished her prayer, she saw Sang-Hyuk standing right behind her. The two passionately embraced each other.
The finale of My Man Is Cupid then disclosed that the shooting of Cheon Dong-Chil’s arrow worked for Sang-Hyuk. He died as a cupid and was reborn again as a human. Now, he and Baek-Ryun could live happily ever after. Thus, the series ended on a happy note, with Baek-Ryun and Sang-Hyuk starting a family together, having a daughter, and living happily as a human couple.
