In episode 8, the people of Geosan County gossip about Baek-Du’s love life. One of the residents tells others that he saw the wrestler with a lady at a bus station. After he performs well at the wrestling match, Baek-Du’s brothers also tease him about an affair.
The upcoming episode’s trailer shows a rumor in town about Baek-Du having a relationship with a married woman. For context, Lee Joo-Myoung’s character, Oh Yu-Gyeong/Du-Sik, disguises as a married lady in the town while investigating a murder case. The trailer features Dong-Yoon’s character losing his cool in public when his mother questions the rumor.

The new Like Flowers in Sand episode 9 trailer begins with Baek-Du’s (Jang Dong-Yoon) mother stopping him in the middle of the town’s market. She asks him about his involvement with a married woman.
Baek-Du looks around and realizes how the townspeople have spread a rumor. He recalls the time when his childhood friend, Du-Sik, became the talk of the town. At a young age, she and her family had to leave the place because the Geosan County residents couldn’t stop making snarky comments. The trailer further shows Baek-Du losing his temper and shouting at everyone, referring to the torment Du-Sik went through because of those people.
