ENA’s Moon in the Day ended on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Starring Kim Young-Dae and Pyo Ye-Jin, the K-drama is a time-slip romance thriller about a 1,500-year-old spirit and a 21st-century firefighter.
In the finale (episode 14), Do Ha manages to save Kang Young-Hwa and breaks the curse. Once he kills the evil spirit, he also leaves Jun-Oh’s body, leaving Pyo Ye-Jin’s character heartbroken. The K-drama’s ending shows that she moves on and desires to meet Do Ha in her next life.
While the storyline was satisfactory, the reason why the drama was titled Moon in the Day was never explained in the beginning. The final episode mentioned the connection between the moon during the day and the lead characters.

In Moon in the Day finale, Pyo Ye-Jin’s Kang Young-Hwa holds Kim Young-Dae’s Do Ha in her arms as his spirit leaves Jun-Oh’s body. The next scene shows a flashback of their happy moment.
As Do Ha lays on Young-Hwa’s lap, the latter looks at the blue sky in broad daylight. She seems thrilled when she sees the moon during the day. Do Ha explains, “Since the sun is so bright, the moon isn’t visible even though it’s always up there.”
Young-Hwa replies, “You’re right. The moon is always up during the day. We just don’t see it.” He adds, “Just because they’re invisible doesn’t mean they don’t exist.” Young-Hwa compares it with Do Ha.
Although Young-Hwa killed Do Ha in her past life, he never left her side. He wandered for 1,500 years as a spirit and watched all her reincarnations. In the present time, he entered Jun-Oh’s body and finally became visible to others. Hence, Young-Hwa compared him to the moon in the K-drama. But, she later realized that he was bidding farewell to her in his explanation. He meant he would be the moon in her life, watching over her, even after leaving the world.
The Moon in the Day ending showed the lead characters reuniting in their next lives while watching the moon during the daytime.
