Starring Seo In-Guk, part 1 of Death’s Game arrived on TVING and Amazon Prime Video on Friday, December 15, 2023. Adapted from Lee Won-Sik and Ggulchan’s webtoon of the same name, the upcoming series revolves around the themes of life, death, and reincarnation.
Helmed by Ha Byung-hoon, Seo In-Guk portrays the lead role of Choi Yi-Jae in Death’s Game, while Park So-Dam plays another prime character in the series, Death. The TVING K-drama opens with a bang as the first episode provides viewers with a series of thrilling events, introducing the characters and seeing how Choi Yi-Jae is punished by Death for ending his life.
Death’s Game episode 1: Death punishes Seo In-Guk’s Choi Yi-Jae for ending his life
Episode 1 of Death’s Game showcases what happens to a man who mocks death by untimely ending his life. Choi Yi-Jae (Seo In-Guk) loses his will to live any longer after continuously failing to secure a job for seven years. On the last day of his life, he ends up losing all his money due to a poor investment.
He also breaks up with his long-time girlfriend, Lee Ji-Su (Go Youn-Jung), on that day. When he returns home after seeing Ji-Su, he sees that the owner has thrown him out of his rental house. On top of that, he fails to get through the final round of an important interview. Thus, he completely breaks down as he can no longer bear the pain of his failures. He decides to end all his pain by taking his own life in episode 1 of Death’s Game.
He jumps off a building and dies. However, after his death, he gets to learn that he will be punished by Death for committing the sin of ending one’s own life. He meets Death in a dark pit that looks like hell. Death tells him that he will be born and die twelve times, only to reincarnate as twelve different individuals on Earth.
However, he will end up dying every time. But if he somehow manages to survive in any one of these twelve lives, he will get to live that life completely. Thus begins the stirring journey of Lee Ji-Su’s twelve reincarnations in the first episode of Death’s Game.
