Starring Lee Young-Ae, Maestra: Strings of Truth premiered two episodes last weekend on tvN. The K-drama revolves around a former violinist, Cha Se-Eum, who becomes a well-known orchestra conductor overseas and returns to South Korea after 20 years.
In the first episode, Cha Se-Eum (Lee Young-Ae) returns to South Korea and joins the Hanphil orchestra. The band members are unhappy with the sudden change and protests against Se-Eum. The premiere’s ending shows the lead character living up to her bold personality and winning the orchestra back.
While things begin to settle at her work, her personal life shatters in episode 2. Apart from dealing with her ex-boyfriend, Cha Se-Eum discovers that her husband has cheated on her.

Maestra: Strings of Truth episode 2 begins with Cha Se-Eum’s (Lee Young-Ae) ex-boyfriend, Yoo Jeong-Jae (Lee Mu-Saeng), barging into her orchestra rehearsal. When Se-Eum gives him a cold shoulder, he decides to take revenge on her.
The rich businessman buys the orchestra and tries to convince Se-Eum to divorce his husband. A flashback reveals that the two met when Jeong-Jae saved Se-Eum from drowning. They were serious about their relationship, but she broke up with him, stating that music was more important for her. With that grudge in his heart, Jeong-Jae cancels Se-Eum’s concert.
Meanwhile, her husband, Kim Pil (Kim Young-Jae), seems unhappy in his marriage and wants them to move back overseas. He keeps getting a mysterious call throughout the K-drama episode. Se-Eum finds a way to attract an audience to her orchestra by streaming a live performance. After the event, Jeong-Jae and Se-Eum get into another heated discussion.
She then receives a message that mentions her to come to a particular location. When she reaches there and opens the door, she sees Kim Pil kissing another woman. Se-Eum is shocked to learn her husband is cheating on her. Soon, Jeong-Jae pulls her back in order to close the door. Maestra: Strings of Truth episode 2 ends with a concerned Jeong-Jae saying, “Don’t look.”
The episode also teases Se-Eum’s childhood trauma, which is related to her mother. Viewers will find out more in upcoming episodes.
