Starring Song Kang and Kim Yoo-Jung, My Demon is the much-awaited K-drama set to premiere this week. The Sweet Home actor recently shared details about his role in the drama. In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, Song Kang revealed that there were many “difficult aspects” to his character in My Demon.
Song Kang plays the character of a demon named Jung Gu-Won. He looks down upon humans and makes dangerous yet sweet deals with them. However, one day, the 200-year-old creature loses his powers because of a drowning incident.
Song Kang dishes on his struggles while filming My Demon
My Demon K-drama is a romance comedy. Song Kang plays demon Jung Gu-Won, while actress Kim Yoo-Jung essays the role of Do Do-Hee. The actors are currently busy promoting their upcoming drama. They discussed their roles in an interview with fashion magazine Elle Korea.
Song Kang opened up about the struggles he faced while filming My Demon. He said, “When I read the script, I thought that the comedic elements were very strong. But once we started acting, there were a lot of difficult aspects [to the character], such as the way his tone of voice is overflowing with confidence. Gu Won is a character who truly loves himself a lot.”
When he was asked whether or not he would take an offer from the demon, he denied it. He explained that he finds happiness in little things and thus wouldn’t accept any offer.
Kim Yoo-Jung on My Demon character: ‘Do Do Hee is different in many ways’
Meanwhile, Song Kang’s My Demon co-star, Kim Yoo-Jung, also shared her experience. She stated that her character, Do Do-Hee, is different in many aspects from her previous roles.
The Backstreet Rookie actress added, “I didn’t want to force anything unnatural because of that [in terms of my acting]. Rather, I tried to move freely within the character. Because [Do Do-Hee] is a character that’s extremely true to her emotions, the spectrum of feelings I portrayed was very broad.”
Do Do-Hee is the successor of a big company, but she is surrounded by enemies. After Gu-Won’s powers transfer to her following an incident, he has to protect her and get his powers back to prevent his extinction. Hence, they enter into a contractual marriage so as to benefit them.
My Demon will premiere on Friday, November 24, 2023, on SBS and Netflix.
