Season 1 of the popular action-thriller K-drama The Escape of the Seven is coming to an end with only one episode left to be aired. The series stars well-known South Korean actor Um Ki-Joon as Matthew Lee or K. SBS has recently dropped a new trailer for the upcoming episode 17 of the series, which showcases Um Ki-Joon’s Matthew being furious and outbursting due to his failure to kill Do-Hyuk.
In episode 16 of The Escape of the Seven, viewers saw Do-Hyuk exposing Matthew’s real identity as Shim Joon-Seok, aka K, in front of the media. Although Matthew claimed to the reporters that the news was fake, the whole situation seemed to rattle him to the core. It is also another prime reason behind his serious outburst.

Matthew is seen losing it in front of his men in the sneak peek trailer released by SBS. He even throws his television away in a fit of rage. He had a perfect plan to kill Do-Hyuk. However, it failed because of Chairman Shim. On top of that, Do-Hyuk successfully made his real identity viral. The entire situation has brought him on the edge of a mental breakdown.
It will be quite interesting to see whether Matthew will give in or pivot from here. Throughout the previous episodes of the first season of the K-drama series, he always had the upper hand. He was the mastermind behind all the chaos. Thus, the character is expected to fight till the very end.
The Escape of the Seven Episode 17 release date, time & more
The Escape of the Seven is all set to air its finale episode exclusively on SBS, this Friday, November 17, 2023. The airtime of the new episode is 10 p.m. KST. The episode will also be available for streaming on Viki.
Joo Dong-Min helms the revenge K-drama series, while Kim Soon-Ok has written it. The official synopsis of the series on Viki reads, “A girl disappears from the world due to the Bobble Incident, and seven wicked people are involved in the incident. Seven villains, including the CEO of a drama production company, Geum La Hui, a gangster, Min Do Hyuk, a girl group trainee, Han Monet, CEO of entertainment, Yang Jin Mo, a teacher, Go Myoung Ji, a detective, Nam Chul Woo, and a gynecologist, Cha Ju Ran.”
It further reads, “They will play a game designed by convict Matthew Lee for seven charges of greed, betrayal, falsehood, distortion, incitement, envy, and indulgence. In order to escape the deity’s punishment, the villains cleverly unite and deceive each other. What were the unwashed sins committed by the wicked? “
