The highly acclaimed movie Squid Game inspired Netflix to turn it into a reality competition show, Squid Game: The Challenge 2023. It features the largest cash prize in the streamer’s reality television history.
Squid Game: The Challenge 2023 will air on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, on Netflix. The competition series will welcome 456 players who will go through a series of games. The prize money will be $4.56 million.
The shooting of the film was in South Korea. The upcoming reality show’s filming location is in the UK.

The format of Squid Game: The Challenge is similar to the 2021 film’s concept.
In the Squid Game movie, 456 contestants participate to win a whopping cash prize. The recruiter hunts those people who are in debt and persuades them to sign up for the game. When they enter the mysterious challenge, they find out that the competition is not just for money but also a game of life and death.
If contestants fail to perform, they are killed and a 100 million won is added to the prize pot. In the end, the cash prize becomes 45.6 billion won (over $35 million).
The format of Squid Game: The Challenge is similar, except the eliminated players are just sent home and not killed. In a variety of challenges and games, the contestants have to use their mental, physical, and social skills to reach the end. Viewers will see them strategize, betray, and believe in order to be the last person standing and win the $4.56 million prize money.

Squid Game: The Challenge 2023 trailer & photos
Netflix recently shared a series of photos of Squid Game: The Challenge on its Instagram page. The first picture featured contestant no. 318 with a tense expression and the next photo was a collage of three images of the set. The rest of the photos looked pretty similar to a few shots from the movie.
Prior to the photos, a teaser and trailer were shared. The first thing that viewers noticed was the famous voice of the animatronic doll. The similarity between the film’s set and the game’s will definitely give you the chills.
The trailer begins with a female saying, “Attention all players! It is now time for the next game.” The 456 contestants enter their one big dorm with the prize pot hanging up high in the middle of the room. Viewers will see some of the games are the same as those featured in the movie.
In the video, one of the participants says, “It is a savage game,” while another states, “I am your best friend but I will absolutely double-cross you.”
The official synopsis of Squid Game: The Challenge 2023 reads: “Immersed in the world of “Squid Game,” 456 real players put their skills — and character — to the ultimate test for a life-changing $4.56 million prize.”
The much-awaited game show will premiere on November 22, 2023, on Netflix.
