Twinkling Watermelon aired a new episode on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 8:50 p.m. KST on tvN and Viki. The series follows the story of a musically gifted CODA (child of deaf adult) student, Eun-Gyeol (Ryeoun), who travels back in time and forms a band named Watermelon Sugar. He also meets his parents from the past.
Episode 12 of Twinkling Watermelon showcased Se-Kyung (now Eun-Yu) (Seol In-Ah) discovering that her mother’s first love was neither Yi Chan (Choi Hyun-Wook) or Eun-Gyeol, but her father itself. Meanwhile, Yi Chan and Cheong-Ah’s (Shin Eun-Soo) relationship hits a roadblock after the music festival. The episode documented equal doses of romance and drama, keeping fans hooked.
Twinkling Watermelon episode 12 focuses on escalating tensions
Episode 12 of Twinkling Watermelon begins with Eun-Gyeol reaching school just in time to save his father, Yi Chan, from the accident. When the latter enquires about Eun-Gyeol’s previous revelation about coming from the future, Eun-Gyeol deflects the situation by telling Yi Chan that it was a lie to avoid him from going to the rehearsal.
Meanwhile, Eun-Yu is angry at Eun-Gyeol for ditching her at the theater and breaking his promise. Despite Eun-Gyeol apologizing profusely and even visiting her house, Eun-Yu feels abandoned and avoids him. Cheong-Ah is worried about Eun-Yu choosing Yi Chan at the festival, and it gets worse when Eun-Yu confirms her worst fears.
The band is ready to perform at the music festival. Yi Chan invites Cheong-Ah, but she gifts him a guitar pick engraved with her favorite line “Viva La Vida,” which means “Long Live Life.” At the festival, Eun-Yu cheers for the band, while Cheong-Ah doesn’t attend. Eun-Yu receives a massive hint from her friend, leading her to believe that her mother’s first love was her father, and it was only unfortunate circumstances that drew them apart.
After the festival, Yi Chan visits Cheong-Ah, asking the reason for her absence. He confesses to having been looking for her throughout the performance. However, Cheong-Ah rejects him and writes him a letter to never meet him again as they belong to different worlds.
Eun-Gyeol and Eun-Yu also suffer in their relationship. The former discovers that Eun-Yu is about to leave the country, so he rushes to the airport. While he doesn’t find her inside the airport premises, he eventually sees her sitting outside and crying. Eun-Yu reveals that she’s worried about not being able to go back, after which Eun-Gyeol assures that he’ll help her out.
