Popular drama The Worst of Evil aired its finale episodes 10, 11 & 12, on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 4 p.m. KST on Disney Plus. The series sought maximum action and emotions in the final three episodes, leading to an intense, heartbreaking climax. It follows the story of police detective Park Jun-Mo (Ji Chang-Wook) as he goes undercover in a drug cartel. He aims to take down its mafia boss Jung Gi-Cheol (Wi Ha-Joon), but is unaware of the consequences.
In The Worst of Evil finale (episode 12), Jun-Mo finally succeeds in the investigation. But, it comes with a heavy price. Not only does he kill mafia boss Jung Gi-Cheol, but he also separates from his wife Eui-Jung (Im Se-Mi). The K-drama ended on a bittersweet note, with Jun-Mo losing everything.
The Worst of Evil episode 12 ending focuses on Ji Chang-Wook & Wi Ha-Joon’s final showdown
Episode 12 starts with Seo Jong-Ryul shooting Seok Do-Hyung dead. Meanwhile, police officer Hwang Min-Goo arrests Jung Gi-Cheol, owing to Choi Jung-Bae and Hong Hee-Sung’s information. While they are on their way, Park Jun-Mo arrives at the scene, wrecks the officer’s car and saves Gi-Cheul.
Jun-Mo, however, is oblivious to the fact that Do-Hyung is dead. Moreover, prosecutor Cho also lies to him that Do-Hyung has survived when that’s not the case. He only encourages Jun-Mo to complete the investigation as they are close to achieving the outcome. Later on, Gi-Cheol and Jun-Mo have an in-depth conversation about their lives.
But this is the very last normal conversation the two have as things take an ugly turn soon afterwards. As Hwang Min-Good recovers in the hospital, he sends an arrest warrant for a man named Seung-Ho. Meanwhile, Lee Hae-Ryeon (BIBI) tests the drugs that Choi Jung-Bae and Hong Hee-Sung give her. She gives them the delivery address to Japan, placing her trust in Jun-Mo.
Her trust soon breaks after Hwang Min-Goo finds out Jun-Mo’s identity, informing her of the same. She is shocked to learn that Jun-Mo is married and is a cop. When she confronts the latter, his silence gives her all the answers. She proceeds to stab the police officer to death.

The Worst of Evil ends on a bittersweet note
Jun-Mo reveals his identity, handcuffing Gi-Cheol as the drugs are handed over. Gi-Cheol stands shocked at the revelation. But when Jun-Mo knowingly leaves the keys to the handcuffs as well as the car key, Gi-Cheol escapes. Jun-Mo confronts the members of the drug cartel, leading to their arrest.
Jun-Mo and his wife Eui-Jong learn of Do-Hyung’s death and visit his grave. When they return home, they find Gi-Cheul looking at their picture, holding a gun, and ready to shoot. Jun-Mo takes out his gun as well. Gi-Cheul is shocked by the betrayal and asks them if they are ever genuine to him. Before he can proceed to shoot himself, Jun-Mo shoots at him, killing Gi-Cheol.
Jun-Mo and Eui-Jung receive a promotion. However, they leave separately, indicating that it’s all over between them. Jun-Mo visits Gi-Cheul’s grave, lights a cigarette, and places it as well as his wedding ring. Although Jun-Mo risked his life and succeeded in the investigation, he lost his wife as well as Gi-Cheol.
Will there be Worst of the Evil season 2?
Although the K-drama had a bittersweet ending, it marked a thorough completion of the storyline. The characters in the series received their closure, whether it be good or bad. Gi-Cheol dies, Jun Mo and Eui-Jung aren’t together and the drug cartel is exposed. It doesn’t look like more storylines can come up.
The Worst of Evil achieved tremendous success in terms of its storyline, casting and the action element. A second season isn’t out of the question if the director and creators come up with a brand-new storyline. Viewers will have to stay tuned for the updates.
