A new teaser trailer of The Matchmakers is out! Starring Rowoon and Cho Yi-hyun in the lead roles, the upcoming South Korean drama series revolves around two young widowed marriage experts from the Joseon era.
The Destined With You star plays nobleman Shim Jung-woo and Yi-hyun plays Jung Soon-deok, and they join forces to find partners for men and women who have crossed their primal age of marriage, as per Joseon rules.
The newly released teaser introduces Cho Yi-hyun’s dual roles – one as Jung Soon-deok, the widowed second daughter-in-law of the first vice-premier’s family, and the other as Mrs. Yeo Joo, the town’s best matchmaker.

The Matchmakers cast, release date and time
Directed by Hwang Seung-gi, The Matchmakers premieres on October 30, 2023, at 9.45 PM KST on KBS. The cast includes Rowoon as Sim Jung-woo, Cho Yi-hyun as Jung Soon-deok, Park Ji-young as Park So-hyeon, Jo Han-chul as King, Lee Hae-young as Jo Yeong-bae, Choi Hee-jin as Mrs. Jo, Jin Hee-kyung as Queen, Jung Shin-hye as Maeng Ha-na, and Park Ji-won as Maeng Doo-ri among others.
A new teaser trailer of The Matchmakers released on October 16, 2023 promises romance between Rowoon and Cho Yi-hyun’s characters, Shim Jung-woo and Jung Soon-deok/Mrs. Yeo Joo, respectively. The trailer begins with Soon-deok introducing herself as the widowed daughter-in-law who appears as a simple, elegant lady with neatly plaited hair and minimal makeup. She says, “Couples I’ve matched are renowned for their great compatibility and fruitful offspring. That’s why parents with daughters frequently seek me to arrange marriages for their children.”
Soon after, her dual role of Mrs. Yeo Joo appears with heavy makeup, gache (traditional Korean wig), and a beauty mark under her eye. She seems surprised when Jung-woo approaches her as a candidate. She asks him, “Do you have any children who are at the right age for marriage?” Shocked by her question, he denies it in despair.
Soon-deok claims to possess extraordinary power as a matchmaker. This power allows her to examine whether two people are suitable for each other. Soon, the two lead characters transform the comedic atmosphere into a romantic one as they gaze at each other. The clip ends with swoon-worthy glances as Jung-woo asks her, “Then what about me…? What kind of woman suits me?”
The highly anticipated rom-com K-drama, The Matchmakers, is all set to premiere on October 30, 2023. KBS will release new episodes every Monday and Tuesday, and they will also be available on Viki.
