Ahead of the much-awaited episode 11 of the popular K-drama My Dearest, the team has teased what fans can expect from Part 2 of the series. The drama follows the love story of Lee Jang-hyun (Namkoong-min), who pledges to not marry, and Yoo Gil-chae (Ahn Eun-jin), who wants to find love even after two failed marriages.
Part 1 of My Dearest witnessed a drastic separation of Jang-hyun and Gil-chae after the latter decided to marry Officer Gu Won-moo. She also writes a letter to Jang-hyun, explaining that she didn’t trust him enough to leave her father and her life and run away with him. A heartbroken Jang-hyun leaves alone. The ending scene shifts two years and sees Jang-hyun pinning down a woman and looking deep into her eyes, leaving viewers wanting more.
It looks like Jang-hyun and Gil-chae’s love story hasn’t come to an unfortunate end after all. Ahead of My Dearest Part 2, the team teased that fans will be able to witness the lead couple reunite.
My Dearest Part 2 will see significant developments in Namkoong-min and Ahn Eun-jin’s journey
Ahead of My Dearest Episode 11, director Kim Sung-yong shared his thoughts and said, “The meticulously crafted emotional journeys of the characters in Part 1 will culminate in Part 2. Viewers should eagerly anticipate how Jang Hyun and Gil Chae, who endured a heart-wrenching separation, will reunite, and the subsequent developments in their relationship.”
Jang-hyun and Gil-chae’s reunion comes as a major relief for fans, who witnessed their heartbreaking separation in Part 1 (episode 10). The director also confirmed that the second installment will delve deeper into “stories of the people, who were taken to Qing Dynasty after the Second Manchu War.” He further stated that their resilience to survive amidst trying times will resonate with today’s audience.
Namkoong-min himself wanted viewers to look forward to his character’s growth and love story with Gil-chae. He said, “I think the most significant aspect to look forward to in ‘My Dearest’ Part 2 is the direction of Jang-hyun and Gil-chae’s love story. I would greatly appreciate it if many viewers continue to watch with affection as the next chapter of this beloved couple unfolds.”
Resonating with both the director’s and her co-star’s message, Ahn Eun-jin stressed on My Dearest Part 2 being people-centric and documenting their lives after the Second Manchu War. She also asks viewers to look forward to her character, Gil-che, and note her unwavering commitment to protecting Jang-hyun as well as their unresolved love story.
Lee Hak-joo, who plays Nam Yeon-joon, promised more “profound and unique stories,” while Lee Da, who essays the role of Yeon-joon’s fiance, expressed that their characters also undergo growth in the second part amidst the love story.
